[S922X] Ugoos AM6(+), Help & Support

yes, it is 1080i remux (I posted related info in the earlier post). I use Custom TV mode with manual settings for best color and almost all post processing off (only small amounts of Reality Creation for lower res content). The only culprit here was the Film Mode as Sony doesn’t provide full tech details on what when and where it does, though most of its functionality has been figured out. My conclusion is that it doesn’t always work correctly, so has to be changed to different value if misbehaves. I would consider the issue ‘closed’ at this point as it doesn’t seem to be CE/box-related. Thx everyone for feedback!

Yes, I now also believe that the low-cost Hisense TV is showing its weaknesses here.

Is there anything like a boot “manager” solution available for this box?

By “boot manager” I mean something that would ask whether I want to start the machine with CoreELEC or Android, instead of needing to go through all the boot sequence for CE, and then rebooting from NAND to access Android.

ive tried both the CE install to emmc method and the factory Ugoos dual boot firmware. I’ve had both setups on my device several times and I keep going back to the factory Ugoos dual boot DCE firmware. It boots into android first which I need, and there’s a reboot to CoreElec button in the reboot menu. It just works exactly how I like it. Maybe try the latest DCE firmware…

Hi everyone, I have a question for those who have had issues with occasional HDMI signal loss. Were you able to resolve the problem? I found in some older threads, which are now locked, that some users (@Nitor, @nesimi, @RHStonks) had this issue. I have owned an AM6B+ box for about a week and followed the instructions for installing Coreelec (nightly) + CPM build. During this week, I have experienced HDMI signal loss three times when playing videos. It always happens when the video starts and is completely random, meaning I can’t replicate the problem. The same video that caused the HDMI signal to drop plays normally when restarted. When I turn the TV off and then on again, the picture comes back. It’s not the cable - I tried replacing it, and it didn’t help. Does anyone have any ideas?

Tested now with Disney+ and Netflix.
Dolby Vision is looking awfull/the same in dark scenes, as well.

So my Hisense is the problem for sure.

I have a similar HDMI signal loss, using official and cpm builds on my LG C2; it happens sometimes randomly only after I stop any video stream, HD SDR or UHD SDR/DV. Sometimes the signal returns after 10-20sec; if not, power cycle AM6B+ brings HDMI signal back.
Recently I discovered a simpler/faster method: on my LG C2 I turn on “Multi View - Split Screen” option and HDMI signal comes back. Exiting Multi View lets me continue as if nothing has happened…

Edit: just to add that the 3 times cheaper and belittled Chinese box KinHank G1 with same mentioned CE builds and identical settings, on my LG C2 TV never loses HDMI signal

At least we can still boot CE !!

that’s interesting, but might be an issue with your specific AM6 unit (there’s no 100% QA sadly for consumer-grade stuff). There are a lot of AM6B+ users (me incl. with 2 boxes from different years) with all sorts of TVs and it’s very likely that we would have already saw similar reports if it was a widespread issue.

Could be some AM6B+ hardware problem in conjunction with my LG C2 since changing HDMI cables and interchanging HDMI inputs does not fix this issue.

btw, do you also have an LG TV like @Sholander ?
have you purchased the box recently (there has been a slight change in HW in recent batches, though it was supposedly only DRAM chip change, but who knows…) ?

My TV is TCL 65C805 and my Ugoos box came just last week so it is possible, that it’s one of those last batches.

I also experienced the same with my AM6B+ and two LG TVs (C9 and G4). I´ll try the “Multi View” method on the G4 next time it happens. Until now, for me what is working is playing the content again when the screen is black. This brings image back and then I go back again and most of the time it does not go back to black screen (with HDMI signal lost).

well that sucks, might be a box issue after all… Does it also happen using bundled Android 9?

Has it been happening for a while or only recently? Maybe it’s worth trying some older build (stable or old cpm) to narrow down the cause if it’s on SW side…

Exactly my thoughts. I have the device for a week only so I can not comment on that but it would be helpful to hear from people that are facing same problem for some time, that if it persist across several versions of Coreelec or if it is only recent.

I’ve experienced the same thing a few times, albeit very rarely, in the last two weeks or so.
AM6B+ - TV-TCL 75C855

I’ve had the AM6B+ for about a month and a half.

are you also a relatively new CE user?
if not, then it’s been happening only recently, right?

I’ve had the AM6B+ for about a month and a half.

Happens to me too with a C3. Happens completely randomly when stopping a video, and has since I got my Am6b plus in June. Although feel it is less frequent now than back then.
