[S922X] Ugoos AM6(+), Help & Support

try this:

You don’t need any zip manualy: just install it from CoreELEC repo in Kodi.

Yes, to me it happens with all CE builds I tried, -ng official/nightlies and all CPM the same. Changed power adapter, HDMI cables, HDMI input ports on my LG TV, without any effect.
It happens to me about once every second day, and since I can get it back fast, it does not bother me too much…
Just to clarify, if I put my cheep Chinese box in the same place (same power adapter, same network cable and same HDMI cable/input port on TV, it never happens. That cheepo never loses HDMI signal.
That’s why I think that it is only due to my AM6B+ box.

I still wonder if this is issue of the model in general and is TV-dependent or just an issue with the batch of devices or smth. had 0 issues of this sort with my two boxes (one from original run and one from Q1 2024)…

On which TV are they connected?

Sony X950G, currently am running my first box from original production run, but I was using the fresh one for 2-3 months before that to give it a proper test and it was also fine.

It looks to me that most complains concerning this HDMI signal loss are from people with LG TVs. At the moment I have no other TV to test with my AM6B+. I tried to get some debug logs, but since it happens so randomly, did not succeed, could never catch one signal loss. Looking at normal Kodi Lod and Kodi Old Log does not reveal anything. Looks like Kodi is not aware of any HDMI signal loss, and I don’t know how, or is it even possible to get a log from TV.

Thanks found it, took too literal the guide here for install- and it’s been quite a while since I have used Kodi. Cheers for the heads-up, found the addon under Program Add-ons.

I have a G3 and I do not remember having any issues with HDMI loss. The only “issue” so far is that the TV switch inputs when Coreelec goes dim in screensaver mode, at wakeup to be precise.

I had hdmi loss problems when i got my Ugoos but they are gone since started to use cpm build with always LLDV and Dolby VSVDB for my Epson ls 12000 and Cinema 70s AVR.

Missed your reply. Thanks for this. I have installed slimbox so I don’t think I can test other firmwares but… what’s DCE?

Also, when CE restarts to Android, what it does to do so? Does it change a file? Is the file accessible in Android?

I guess I am looking for something like this: Bootmenu for amlogic devices - General Discussion - Khadas Community

But it doesn’t seem to exist (apart from the link above, which is old and not documented enough for my newbie skills).

DCE stands for Dual Boot CoreELEC. The rest im not sure of… But the Ugoos DCE firmware does what youre wanting 100%

Thanks for your reply. It actually does not do what I want.

I want a boot menu when the machine is turned on. I already have the functionality described here

The only difference is the machine defaults to booting to CE instead of defaulting to Android. What I would like is having the opportunity to decide every time the machine starts what system I want to use, thus avoiding a double boot if the default is not what I want.

Machine turned off.
I turn it on.
A simple screen asking “Android or CoreELEC?”, I choose (and if I don’t, ideally, it goes to one of the two that I could configure as default, after 5 seconds or so).
Boot happens with the system chosen.

It’s a simple boot menu that I have seen many times in the Linux/Windows environment, for example.

Not being familiar with how these machines handle partitions/boot I’m not sure if it would be doable or not. The link I posted above made it sound doable but, as I stated, it’s old and not very well documented (at least not to the level that I’d feel comfortable trying).

This is not possible in a box with regular Android OS. It can be done on SBC, and as such is used on Odroid N2(+) and such devices, which cannot be bricked.

Since regular Android boxes need a secure method to recover in case it’s Android gets corrupted, they need a secure method of recovering i.e booting from uSD/USB devices first. Only in special cases, like in AM6B with DCE FW, this method is not used; first boot from internal eMMC, and then forced reboot from uSD/USB device.

If I want to revert AM6B+ box with Coreelec installed on the eMMC (dual boot) into original state, should I boot into android and reset it to factory defaults ? Will it wipe coreelec completely ?

No, you should flash the non-dualboot firmware from Ugoos using the USB Burning Tool.

By the sounds of it the factory DCE firmware is going to be as close as possible then. It will boot to android by default, then you can hold the power button on the remote and it brings up this menu…

Also, where you said the functionality was described: Beta Dual Boot Firmware v.0.2.8+ CoreElec for Ugoos AM6/AM6 Pro & X2/X3 Series models, that is the DCE firmware I was talking about albeit an older version than the latest

I have just flashed the original firmware using the USB flash tool as you advised. Everything went smoothly. Thank you !

Anyway, I am planning to return the box to the seller because it’s too inconvenient for me and especially for my wife to deal with HDMI signal dropouts. I also own a Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro, which I basically had no issues with, but I wanted a box that supports HDR10+, which would be great with the UGOOS AM6B+ if it weren’t for the HDMI signal dropouts. For example, just yesterday, my wife texted me saying that the signal dropped out right when she was playing a cartoon for the kids while preparing lunch, and her hands were dirty from raw meat. An annoying situation and I refuse to deal with something like this…
