[S922X] Ugoos AM6(+), Help & Support

Hello. I have a problem with booting from USB. I tried many times to boot by holding the recovery button but it always started the Ugoos software. Do I need to change any settings on the AM6B +. I followed all the steps in the instructions carefully, but the result is always the same.

I would try installing this and using that to boot to Coreelec

On my old am6plus worked in past only reboot to libreelec, and never worked coreelec to reboot at my device.

I also tried with libreelec and the result is the same. I also tried with
SD card, same. I can’t install either Libreelec or Coreelec.

LE won’ be useful on the AM6. Assuming you have the correct dtb installed and adb enabled I would run

adb reboot update

For me this is the easiest way to update after a firmware flash etc.

I wrote about apk not about OS.

hello guys, new to the coreelec os

got a Ugoos AM6b+ and super impressed with its picture quality for dobly vision and hdr content on sdr display
(panasonic flagship plasma tv )

here is a general question.

i think it is the native dv support that got this good result

or could it be all s905 device can have this picture quality?

thx in advance

cheers

lee

Ugoos AM6B Plus isn’t a s905 device. It’s a S922XJ device.

hi, just ordered a Ugoos AM6B+, ive sfeen lots of older posts talking about using specific dev and nightly builds, am i right in thinking most of the changes now got merged into the latest stable release of CoreELEC, or is there a recommended build for the AM6B+, appreciate any replies.

I’m happily using the 21.2 stable rather than the nightly, all working well…

No difference in picture quality on S905X4 that I have but you will notice slower start of playback and longer seek times compared to the Am6b+ (S922XJ).

ok my question was not clear enough…

what i meant was
will those soc without dual layer DV support have the same picture quality as the am6 when play bdmv dv content with sdr mapping? (for instance…some like s928)

or sdr mapping will be the best only when you are using stuff like am6 or other s905x4-j or s905x2-j device?

thx for make this one clear.

i was wondering about the same thing

but am6 aint exactly very fast to start with. so i probly will only have s905x4-j as a backup down the line

Thanks for the reply, can i just confirm that dolby vision playback is OK?, it’s my primary reason for getting the box.

Yep, working great.

While I agree that the conversion from HDR10+ to DV is the one making the most sense (and it would be very welcome), unless your display is capable of 4000 nits peaks, you are tone mapping in any case on several releases. I use an OLED that has about 700 nits peaks, as such my display is tonemapping anyway for pretty much all HDR content.

In this case, one may simply prefer the way the DV10 engine handles tonemapping to the way one’s display does.

Also, while it’s true that CE-NG is EOL, it remains the only version capable of DV FEL playback. As such, in my humble but undeniably interested opinion, it would be nice to see it get all the features it can get, with the obvious exception of those impossible to implement due to wider architectural changes between versions.

Hope to get a reply from devs about this.

And here we disagree. DV is NOT the improved version of HDR10+. It’s the competitor. So it makes no sense to convert one format in the other.
This is the reason there does no TV exists with such “mapping”.
Just get harddware support both formats.

CE-NG and CE-NE are EOL, yes. No backports of new features will happen anymore. Use CE-NO.

I really like it. I have a Sony Bravia 9, which doesn’t support HDR10+. If a movie only has HDR10+ but no DV, I can convert the HDR10+ to DV. VS10 is perfect for Sony owners.

→ go shopping? Buy hardware and use it for the case it is specified for?

But Sony B9 is a really great TV, but Ugoos AM6B Plus made it greater.
