Maybe try Projectivity launcher or similar (I dont have a dune so I dont know if the OS can handle other launchers though)
Iām new to Coreelec but just installed it onto my X96 X10 8Gb, but I canāt get the remote to work.
I connected a usb keyboard so I could navigate around and I can get the remote to show as paired and connected in the Bluetooth section of Coreelec but it doesnāt work.
After some mucking around deleting and reconnecting, I can get it to sometimes work for a few seconds but it always stops working almost immediately.
What am I doing wrong?
Has anyone got the stock remote that comes with the X96 X10 to work in CE?
Actually Iām not even sure if itās only a BT remote, or a combination of IR/BT - not at home now but I will try to check later.
I think remote use with BT is unreliable on the X10. Use the remote with IR instead. Download the IR remote profile (remote.conf), copy it to ConfigFiles over samba (/storage/.config/remote.conf), reboot.
Thanks for the reply.
I did that and it works now, but is terribly unresponsive.
You have to point the remote directly at the box and press really deliberately, itās barely usable.
I had actually noticed this already with another RC6 MCE remote that I have. It works but only barely. I had assumed it was because it might use a different IR frequency than the stock remote, but now I just think this box has a terrible IR receiver.
A TV box without a usable remote is not real good. The WAF is reaching critically low levels.
I have noticed that the stock remote works over bluetooth for a few seconds after a reboot, but then stops working.
Is that othersā experience with the X96 X10, or does mine sound faulty?
Is there no chance of the bluetooth being fixed?
Is there any log file that might help troubleshoot the bluetooth disconnecting problem? Anything I can do?
Bluetooth supported dongle.
Interesting. I might have a BT dongle in a box somewhere.
Do I need to do anything to disable the inbuilt BT to get a USB one to work?
The only thing is you need to remove your pairing already done. Plug in dongle while system is running and only then it will pick dongle as default.
Once you connect it to a dongle Bluetooth radio it will survive reboots no problem.
Lads were giving some advices how to disable build in or change dafault device but non of it workedā¦
Try this remote config
Its very responsive
OK thanks, I will try it tonight.
AV1 decoding seems to be broken on the X96 X10.
Every AV1 that I play has quite a lot of corruption.
I use the youtube add-on and almost every video Iāve watched that uses AV1 has quite a bit of corruption and freezing.
Also I tested an AV1 4k HDR rip I have of a hollywood movie and it was also bad, with green blocky artifacts and frozen screen for 10 seconds at a time.
Quite disappointing because 90% of my usage was planned to be for that youtube add-on.
The only reasons I got this box over the Ugoos AM6b+ was for the AV1 support and the hope for a snappier box because the single core speed is faster (I donāt really care about FEL). Also I wasnāt sure that the AM6b+ would have the horsepower for software decode of 4k AV1.
I donāt suppose thereās anything I can do to fix AV1 support on itā¦
I saw that we can download the stock firmware at this page, and the date on that file is 20240803.
I havenāt checked the firmware version I have installed (is there any way to check from CE?), but before I go down that sure-to-be-time-consuming route, is there any hope that that could make it any better?
I would have thought that AV1 decoding was a function baked into the silicon and probably immutable.
Does AV1 decoding work for anyone else with the X96 X10, and if so what firmware are you running?
Also, is there any way to disable specifically only AV1 hardware decoding in Kodi? I only see a box to disable all Amlogic hardware decoding, which I donāt want to do.
Yes, true. Without any log or any info what CE version you used.
Or just Android? No log, no sample, no problem, no issue.
Latest stable CE, installed over the weekend.
I only launched into Android once to install termux to then boot CE.
Iāll try some test files from https://kodi.wiki/view/Samples#4K_(UltraHD)_&_HDR_Formats tonight.
And this is wrong. Use latest CE-22 nightly.
Stable support for new hardware is minimal and will not be finished.
Would https://relkai.coreelec.org/Amlogic-no/ce-22/CoreELEC-Amlogic-no.aarch64-22.0-Piers_nightly_20250713-Generic.img.gz be the one to get?
I donāt see one that is specifically for the X96 X10.
Iām new to Coreelec, all I did was follow the info on https://coreelec.org/#install
.tar is for update. Use .img.gz.
Sorry, just so I donāt waste our time, the generic one I listed first should be good?
Do you see any special version for X96 X10? No? Then use Generic.
I installed that remote.conf and itās about the same. The remote must be aimed very accurately towards the box and feels quite unresponsive.
When there is no remote.conf loaded, my MCE remote works with CE but it is similar, must be aimed very accurately and feels unresponsive.
By way of comparison the same MCE remote works super well with my USB MCE receiver, you can point it anywhere and it is very responsive.
So I just think the inbuilt IR receiver in the X96 X10 is just very insensitive. Barely usable IMO.
Iāve told you what to do. Itās 4⬠on ebay if you donāt have oneā¦
I normally use Logitech K400 Plus wireless keyboard
And my TV TCL Dolby Vision remote works excellent with CoreELEC
That is an accurate description of the remote, it is the generic cheapest option that came with Box
A member here posted about remote config from X96 S905X from 4 years ago,so i gave it a test
