Well, that’s all that was needed:
cat /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/disp_cap > /storage/.kodi/userdata/disp_cap
Not sure why it couldn’t recognize my receiver, but I am now back in business, including both picture and 5.1 sound.
