TVH Stream Constantly Dropping... Driving me NUTS!

No, to watch TV I have Kodi clients with CE and android 7.1, all with Amlogic S912 processor. They all work well.

To see on the PC I have Kodi clients with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04. I also have a very old tablet with Kodi 16 and Android 4.3 that does not allow watching 4K channels. They also work well.

Well then i have no idea what the problem is, and seems nobody else does or there is no way to find out.

therefore i just will delete tvh and forget it.

Have you tried to see what the live log says in those cases? You can access it via browser. There’s a button in the right bottom corner.

You have to be watching it while using tvh in the other boxes. Or just use the full log but that’s heavy.

Ah yes its coming up with stuff now, looks like theres a RED section when it froze, ill let it run a bit longer then post the log :slight_smile:

As I see that nobody answers you, I will. I am not an expert in tvheadend and in your logs I see things that I understand and others do not, it is also very difficult to make a diagnosis only with what you have described.

It seems that you only have a single DVB-T tuner, that you use all kinds of epg grabbers and EIT, and that your tuner has some errors at the reception side.

  1. Please disable Over-the-air EPG in the tvheadend tuner configuration.
  2. Erase all muxes and scan all DVB-T channels again.
  3. Disable everywhere in tvheadend, absolutely all internal epg grabbers, including EIT. Check for everything in tvheadend.
  4. Check the reception errors (see on tvheadend web, in Status-> Stream). If few errors appear, nothing happens, but if errors constantly appear, then you will have to improve the power and quality of the DVB-T signal (check cables, connectors, shunts, etc., and change them if necessary), unless it is a defect of the tuner in which case you would have to change it.

Ok ill give that a go, bare in mind this only happens on the clients in another room. direct watching on the server machine is fine.

Sorry for not answering sooner but you edited your response so I didn’t get a new message sign in this thread. I’ll try to dig a bit in your log and see what can be happening. But as @cubimol said, there seems to be a lot of “epg action” when the stream fails.

Ok i just dug through all my settings and disabled everything accept the UK freesat settings, and disabled all epg settings.

Stream failed after 22 mins.

I have just disabled background update on the client and testing again.

This is the new log, alot cleaner…

Can you confirm the tvh server version you’re using?

I just ran bbc news channel on the server box N2, AND the box in the bedroom.

N2 with server and client still going, android box in bedroom 5 mins freeze.

Im really thinking this could be an android issue now. Otherwise surely the Main unit would freeze also?

If it was a problem with the tuner for example yes, it would freeze too. It’s most likely an incompatibility between android and tvh server but I can’t be sure. I was hoping that with tvh 4.3.1811 it would go away. Can you activate the debug log on tvh to see if something different appears there?

You can enable it in the add-on settings and there you can choose the path for the file.
