Ugoos AM6b(+) HDMI signal drop/no picture issue

Hi new to CE/AM6/b(+), I have an issue with video playback. The issue is very hard to capure or replicate, since its intermittent and random.

It occurs during video playback (any file format) the signal to the TV is lost/dropped. At the moment I can remove my hdmi cable and reconnect and the picture appears again.

There are several of us that have reported this exact issue last few weeks and months on here @Nitor @nesimi @RHStonks @Sholander @vartik @W4RW0LF47 @chuckster @etgecata @jonnypuma @liquidion

Issue is not 100% LG OLED related (although many of us have them) few epson/projectors and TCL TV owners now mentioned below with same exact issue.

All test I have performance and failed:
-CE set to complete defaults, TV defaults
-Tried different video file types, mkv and avi, sdr, hdr and 4K files etc
-60 hertz and 120 hertz in CE settings
-4 different hdmi cables (2.1, certified 2.1) and also in 2 different hdmi ports
-3 different nightly builds (nov and nov 25th today build), Stable CE 21.1.1-Omega, and CPM (nov 2024) also December 6th 2024 nightly build.
-I tried all defaults, 3 usb flash, new microsd card, built in emmc
-tried DV, HDR, mpeg different video formats
-Tried changing display resolution from default 1920x1080 to 4K
-DElay after change of refresh rate(tried few settings non worked)
-blank other displays
-adjust display refresh rate on stop/start to to OFF.
-Tried 10bit colour in CE.

I believe I am the first one to capture, while debug logging is on since its so hard to capture and takes 20-40 minutes sometimes, but can do it again or more if required since this issue appears more wide spread now.

Also mentioned here the issue is not hardware related but Software or Settings related (as far as I can tell)

Updated logs (taken with dmesg | paste, right after issue occurs)
https://paste.coreelec.org/BootyInformed

Older logs (maybe not correct):

Tried 10bit as suggest but same issue eventually, maybe 300+ video playback attempts: https://paste.coreelec.org/SheldonWazoo

older log here (maybe incorrect):

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You will need to create a dmesg | paste right after such issue happen. Without unplug or do anything else.

Small correction/update, a few others on the main AM6+ support thread also confirmed they have the same no signal issue but with different devices, one an @etgecata TCL TV and another with @Wizzi07 epson 4k projector

Also several have mentioned as temporary work around is to press the hdmi or source switch button on the remote, this re-triggers the hdmi connection putting back the image on the TV.

One user mentioned it may not always work so a hard reboot maybe required.

Its still a lot better to unplugging the hdmi cable and putting it back in like I was before.

Ok thanks, I have updated my main thread with newer logs right after the issue.

Hopefully there good since I had to run I think 100+ videos, just to re-create the issue.

Try also to limit bit depth to 10bit.

Thanks, tried 10bit, got the furthest yet maybe I played a video back 300x or more but then hit the no signal issue again. Taken logs right after the issue with dmesg | paste command here:

I also had the hdmi drop out on my Epson LS12000 projector from the begining but has been solved since started to use cpm build with Dolby VSVDB, lldv and forcing 12bit in gui. No fix for you guys but just wanted to share that the issue is not only LG

Testing Ugoos Am6b Plus from August of this year.
With 054n firmware

CoreELEC on external uSD ultra.
With older HDMI 2.0 cable direct to TCL
TCL HDMI arc to Soundbar.

Tv is TCL 2023 model

Never had an issue like yours where EDID/handshake breaks during playback

I don’t think its CoreELEC issue
Just my thoughts on the matter.

Also never had an issue with Kinhank g1 Dolby Vision (when i had working)
Also no issues with X96X10 PRO S928X-J Dolby

TCL TV is only 42 inch
So mainly used for testing and setting up boxes

So have used quite a bit.

But never 300 plus in a row
Just to try to produce fault

From the previous tester (linked in my 1st main reply on top), they said its fine in android and just occurs under CE, so its sounding like an CE or setting issue or something else.

And its a very intermittent issue, I can sometimes go one day playing back several videos and its fine, but the next day it may happen on the first video playback or 10th.

This is why the other 15 or so people with the same fault have never been able to produce logs or video it since its so random in nature.

I doubt many people would know this issue is there since they are not playing back video files 10x per day let alone 300x a day to test it.

Ok
Have been following the thread
Unfortunate issues  with your setup

You certainly have put a great effort into this
Kudos for perseverance!!!

So random you say…

Could it be something in your TV settings
Do you have multiple HDMI Inputs connected?

Or another devices remote control

My Soundbar ir remote Turns on the HK1 x4 s905x4 Box i have.
And TV changes source/input.

Just thinking out loud…

Hope you are able to get dmesg right after the event, so Team CoreELEC can maybe see something.

Happy Testing

It works in Android as there is no frame rate switching done.
Disable it at CE and it’s same behavior and don’t blame CE.

Check on your TV also what format is used on Android and limit CE auto settings to be same.

Thanks will add that test to the check list I have yet to boot into android, It was another member on here who tested it on android and said it was fine, so thought the issue was within CE.

Ok tried a 2nd test run with 10bit colour, still no joy the no signal issue still occured.

This was with the most recently nightly build maybe yesterday or day before and also 10bit colour selected.

Still got another 10 things to test, so this is going to take a while.

If anyone had any other recommendations or settings to adjust or can go through the logs in more detail to pin point what’s causing this issue, please suggest any thoughts.

Thanks

This issue seems to happen less after I started running the GUI @ 1080p.

Bro are u running from sd card or from usb or did you use the dual booting and put it on emmc? Is your device connected straight to TV or is it connected to soundbar or reciever?

I tried it from all 3, usb pen at start but when I had the no signal cut off issue I switched to emmc which had the same issues.

But now I run on a dedicated micro sd card. I did see the issue on the micro sd card 2 weeks ago but unable to get the fault any more.

AM6b+ box is connected directly to the LG C2 TV with hdmi 2.1 cable.

It just appears after a few weeks use it sort of just burned in and behaves itself now, but if I get the issue again ill repost.

Similar to behavior on my LG C2, it just sorted itself out in a couple of latest weekly updates; no more blackouts.

Have you solved your issues remaining on mainline CE or CPM? On my end, knock on wood, issues didn’t seem to appear anymore with HDMI signal loss with the CPM A11 build…don’t necessarily need the VS10 engine, but the updated and more detailed player processor info make it 100% worth using.

I use only latest cpm builds; nothing in mainline of interest to me.
