USB ports not working on Khadas VIM3L

Hi all!
I just got a Khadas VIM3l with CoreELEC preinstalled (CoreELEC (official): 9.2.8 (Amlogic-ng.arm)). It all works like a charm, except from the two USB ports, which are not working. I tried plugging in a USB gamepad, a BT receiver and what not, while looking at the output of journalctl -f, but nothing is reported there.
lsusb just says:

# lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

I searched in this forums but the only thread I found about USB issues was reported for another board, and Iā€™m not sure if the solution reported there is safe to use here.

Any idea on what I should try?

If I were you and if that is the original image shipped with the vim3L, I would restore android and then use CE19

Thanks Vasco, I will try and then report back!

And it works, indeed! Thanks a lot, @Vasco!
