Youtube addon broken

Normally it’s easier to solve this type of issues in the kodi forum directly.

@Vasco thank you for the hint. After a quick look into the Kodi form it seems the people are creating a new API project with new credentials and using this. Not sure if I really want to do this every few month,…

My API keys has lasted for at least six months, it doesn’t seem that they lapse.

I created API Keys some months ago for YT and it’s been working fine. Now I’m getting Quota Exceeded error when trying to access YT.

Anyone know of a fix?

I strongly suspect that google is slowly trying to kill this add-on since it breaks their advertising model.

I think that it is down to the limits placed on developers and as we use dev keys to access YT, limits will apply.

I have seen this once and it was at the end of a full day’s use of YT.

I left it until the next day and it seems that limits are set daily and all was well again.

Well, I have the YT add-on working again. First I tried creating new credentials (the 3 API keys) and that did not work. Then I deleted the project altogether and re-created it and now YT is working again. For how long is anyone’s guess.

This link helped a lot as the layout of the Google Console has recently changed and the old tutorials are not correct.

Did the same. Suddenly after a year it stopped working.
Modifying the existing project with new keys did not help.
Deleted everything and did a new project.
Now it works again

Seems YouTube has gone south again. Giving a
Forbidden : caller doesn’t have permissions
Error.
Anyone care to confirm or give advice.

Ya seems to be broken

Can view trending it seems

Search history/favorites etc
Message appears caller has no permissions/has expired

Yes same behaviour here. I tried upgrading to the latest version of Youtube from GitHub and its the same behaviour.

Create and use your own API key:

I finally went and tried that solution, but the result is that youtube is now reporting that i have exceeded my quota.

There is some discussion about this in the linked Github issue Instructions for creating an API key and OAuth credentials · Issue #439 · anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube · GitHub

All works fine with one of the latest nightlies! Thanks a lot for everybody who has contributed to getting Coreelec working on this device

The only minor problem is that I can’t sign in to Youtube (7.3.0). This may well be an issue related to Kodi Piers. Did somebody in this thread manage to sign in to Youtube?

I also had problems logging in to 7.3.0 (I didn’t put too much effort into it to make it work), but the beta4 version works fine. Maybe other newer betas will work also well.

Got mine working eventually - don’t remember quite how. The latest fixes are always described on the github page first.
Mainly use it for casting from Android phone which it seems to be doing very reliably in more recent versions.

Unfortunately also with beta 4 I keep getting error when signing in:

error <general>: [plugin.video.youtube] login_client:243(request_access_token) Login failed - Access token request error URL: POST ``https://www.googleapis.com/oauth2/v4/token`` Status: Error - No response Response: {'error': 'authorization_pending', 'error_description': 'Precondition Required', 'code': 428} Login type: 'tv' client_id: '861...t.com' client_secret: 'Sbo...XAT'

My API keys are valid. The issue may be related to using the latest Kodi Piers nightly because I need support for the Ugoos AM9 with S905x5 chipset

You have to sign in 3 times.
Not only once.
Did you do it this way?

It works fine on Piers nightly.
If you unsuccessfully try to login using your generated API keys - that key is generally tainted and you need to start over. Took me two tries to get a working login.
