9.2.0 Discussion

If WifeAcceptanceFactor is essential to ball retention then I would recommend investing in a couple of official Microsoft XBox One TV Tuners.

They are as cheap as chips and throughout my use of TVH for OTA TV, over a number of boxes, platforms, OS’s and releases, they have been rock solid.

Its the XBox One Tuner that upto now has been rock solid that is giving all transport errors (1638) and continuity errors (2613) as apposed to the built in tuner in the Meello UNO that has 0 and 11 respectively.
From Now on once I get the backend stable I will probably freeze the updates as as long as its working there is no point it letting it upgrade.
For me 9.0.3 was just about as stable as I have had using an android box. In fact I mothballed my mini intel box that I used to use as the TVHeadend Server. I used to use an X92 (S912) with two Xbox one tuners the sidegraded to a Meelo Uno (S905) thinking I could use both the internal tuners at the same time. I ended up adding an Xbox One Tuner to give me two tuners.
The problem for me is the server is headless so if I need to change anything its a pain but for the past few months everything has been fine.
The fix could be as simple as changing the drivers from what I have them set as now to CrazyCat or the other option. I will report back when I have found the best option and I have tested it for a couple of days, as this lockup does not show up for a while.

I uninstalled the installed tvh server. Rebooted & installed the tvh server latest version.

someone here, copied his previous setting first then copied back after the new installation

Interesting.

I just setup 9.2.0 from scratch with dual Xbox One tuners on both my S912 and S905X2 to see what I get.

I use DVB drivers from the latest kernel.

You have already got errors?! I have got my 5M cable out and it looks like I am using Kernel Drivers Too. Its in the Middle of recording at the moment so I will need to wait till later before I start Tweeking.

There is one problem, with the TVHeadend setup, I have been trying to fix for ages on multiple platforms that’s been driving me nuts. Two of the HD muxes don’t work on live TV the main HD Mux (ITV1,BBC1,BBC2…) is fine. If I try to play “BBC NEWS HD” I get a long delay and sound but no video (Sometimes the other way round). Strangely if I hit the record button it records with sound and video no problems no continuity errors Perfect recording. But try it live it does not work. I had to add the mux settings manually because they don’t auto detect. Setup Below.

Mode 6: DVB-T2 27841 (32KE) carriers, 256QAM mode, FEC=2/3, 1/128 guard = 40.2Mbps

The one thing I have noticed in the logs when I hit record I get a message about the offset between the audio being too large. So I assume thats why the live TV Does not work

Updates went well on 2 odroid N2’s
Thanks guys

The uncorrected blocks (no idea what the implication is though) isn’t affecting the quality of the TVH service for me though.

I can’t test BBC News HD as I’m only receiving the SD channel.

Looking at your mux settings, some values are different from mine such as QAM, where all mine at 64, rather than 256, but again, I have no idea what implication this setting really has.

Ok Now this is weird. I changed the Tuner Priority order so it uses the Averlink (Internal Tuner) first and its been on BBC HD for 1 hour no problems so far so I think its the Xbox One Tuner that may be the problem in when using dvb-T2. I had it set as the highest priority because it was so stable. QAM 256 is used in DVB-T2 to get the higher bandwidth

Interestingly Looking at the above logs using the XBox One tuner give loads of errors at startup but using the internal is fine.
I will leave it on BBC News HD overnight and see what happens. DVB tuners tend to send the whole mux in to the host that then filters out the audio and video PIDS. Maybe the driver is struggling to split the 40Mb stream. I did disable the time-shifting If it works over night I will re-enable it and see if that breaks it.

Why don’t you get DVB-T2 channels there is nowhere in the UK that does not get HD?

And it was fine with previous versions, using Xbox one for BBC HD?

Btw., using Astrometa with Panasonic 88473, have sometimes discontinuity errors (9.0.3 + DVB latest from kernel), but not all the time, just time to time and it does not affect live playback (I assume its on the start when tunning channel or something)

I get most of them but the Sutton Coldfield Mux in TVH still has some old references that are no longer used and missing 746 and 754Mhz, one of which gives BBC News HD.

I’m modifying the TVH addon to see if that fixes it.

In case somebody is interested. I installed CE 9.2.0 on a S10 MAX+ box (S905X3 4GB/32GB, €35)
As expected, ethernet/wifi/bt is not working, but it does when using an external USB/eth adapter.
Besides that, all main CE functions are working just fine.

Is hardware decoding used during playback?? (usually press ‘o’ during playback and see if Hardware Decoding is active - apologies if you already knew this :grinning:)

If so, I’ll be getting one of these. (May I ask where you got it from?)

Yes, HW decoding. Tried FHD h264 and 4k h265 stream.
I bought it at AliExpress, but apparently it’s gone now…
Here it is still listed:

Hi you appear not to be geting COM7/8. I had to add them myself as the xbox one tuner did not pick them up automatically. Just copy the 626.2Mhz Mux twice and edit the frequency to 754000000 and 746000000.

When I initially set it up 9.0.x it was working but no (com7/8 muxes) which include BBC NEWS HD. BBC HD (PSB1 mux) has always worked. I manually added the com7/8 muxes by copying the setting from PSB1 mux, changing the frequencies. Then it scanned and added the extra channels including BBC News HD. I noticed occasionally when starting BBC News HD I would not get A picture only sound. I now realise that It may have been working using the Averlink and not using the Xbox tuner. At some time I set the Xbox Tuner to highest priority so basically it almost never worked.
When I upgrade to 9.2.0 everything seemed to work for a while, other than BBC News HD, but as my beta tester (the wife) pointed out to me the front end would loose access to the back end randomly usually within 30 mins or so even on SD channels that had not been a problem before.
Last night I set the Avalink to highest priority and it immediately worked on BBC News HD and stayed working all night. I suspect the XBox tuner has always been the problem but now either the driver or TVHEADED Server is crashing the backend when it hits a problem. I am seeing a lot more errors on the tuners than before I know these tuners are very finicky about signal maybe the fact the cable have moved.

I know where they are, but no update available.

Which drivers are you using I am Using Kernel drivers there is no update for coreelec drivers

lol. This probably shouldn’t be an automatic update then - my box is bricked as well.

just side note: the DVB drivers are separateted from TVH Ser/Cli… Crazycat/CoreElec/DVB latest addons take care of those…
