That’s interesting that the tool is only reporting 4 channels and that the centre channel is silent. As you say, maybe the Goldwave tool is using a fixed order layout. I will see if I can visualise the channels on the file on my linux desktop as maybe I didn’t encode the FLAC properly after ripping from SACD? However, a USB stick version of the file I placed on my google drive which you are using, does play back properly when I insert it into my Sony AVR and play it directly. The Sony (like most AVRs) does not support decoding of FLAC over HDMI, only through USB and maybe also DLNA over a network connection.
I imported that file into Audacity and it too, is showing a silent centre channel. It appears to be a FR, FL, FC (silent), RL and RR. So, in reality, the original recording may be quadraphonic (FL, FR, RL and RR), but issued as a 5.0 SACD with a silent centre channel. I’ll have to find the original disc and verify. Other recordings, like my Dave Brubeck are definitely 5.0 with a centre channel and mostly room reverberation in the rear channels. I’ll find a definitive 5.0 and put it on my google drive. But, the mapping is still wrong in CE as the rear channels are silent.
I have gone back to the original SACD and checked the liner notes. It is indeed a quadraphonic recording, transferred to DSD in 4.0 format. However, the actual SACD ISO file is showing as a 5 channel in the sacd_extract logfile as follows:
Version: 1.01
Copyright: Pentatone

It’s actually encoded into the FLAC file as 5 channels (FL, FC, FR, SL, SR) with a silent FC channel. It plays like that when I put the USB into my Sony AVR. The front and rear main speakers sound with a silent centre channel. CE should be mapping the channels in the same way.
Did you try with Kodi on Windows or Linux?
I am debugging the mapping of the Alsa audio sound card used on Amlogic but what I see the logic is maybe faulty at all. It might only work downwards, like 7.1 to 5.1, but upwards…?
But all this will require more time…
CoreELEC dt-id: g12a_s905x2_4g_1gbit
There’s still no wired connection, not at all. It’s a pity, almost to tears
I tried Kodi on my “smart” TV, which is an Android/Google derivative. FLAC audio seems always to play in stereo - not passing multichannel data at all to the AVR. Passthrough audio like DTS-MA or Dolby ATMOS works fine, but these are usually associated with video files. I’ll see if I can rig up a HDMI connection from my Windows 10 laptop.
I’m not sure what you mean by “the logic is maybe faulty at all” I know English is not your first language, so I may be misunderstanding. Do you mean that you think the mapping may be in error?
Yes, I think only mapping down like 7.1 to 5.1 or 5.1 down to 3.1 do work.
But maybe not up like 5.0 to 5.1, as I said maybe. Need to check it next week
Thank you for testing it out on your box, i might just stick with android 11 then on my box too.
Good to know that downgrading is possible though. ![]()
You will need to create us a dmesg with last working one please.
Before and after 20250904?
Before and after 20250304?
Before and after 20241224?
@Portisch - I checked the FLAC file in MediaInfo and it confirms the 5.0 layout and names the channels as L, R, C, Sl and Sr. Obviously the centre channel is present although silent as the original tape source was actually 4.0

To my great regret, the wired connection for the S905x2 never worked on NO, only on NG. Here is the dmesg NG of the last night.
Please help.
I noticed a problem with the box.
I set the screen resolution and refresh rate to 1080p@50Hz.
I turn off the box from the menu with the “shutdown” menu, and then it switches to 60Hz immediately. It hasn’t done this before.
If it hasn’t switched here (it’s happened before), then at some other time.
Another option.
I turn on the box with the remote control. I wait 1 minute.
Then I turn on the TV.
And the TV switches to 60Hz…and it also says 60Hz in the CE menu.
It hasn’t done this before.
This has never happened under CE19.
How can I help you find the error, if any?
Thank you.
S905X3 generic box
CE22 NO
Try again tomorrow with new nightly 20251025.
Maybe there is a issue with your HDMI cable or try another HDMI port on your TV.
There are multiple plugin/plugout of HDMI even when not doing a plugin or plugout of the cable I guess. Or you have AVR between? Then try a direct connection first!
no hardware modifications in the last five years. I don’t use an AVR. but I’ll check the cables and come back to the CE19 in a few days to see if the error occurs again.
I used the box in the past hour at 50Hz.
No problem.
Restarted the box with the shutdown menu with remote…box restarted and again, CE changed the Hz to 60 in the menu by itself.
Another observation:
I turned it off with remote controller the box, it changed again to 60 Hz, and then turned it off.
A post was merged into an existing topic: CE-22 NO: Looking for users with no working WiFi or BT
I went back to NG on one of mine, worked ok.

The connection seems to have appeared in the settings, but there is still no connection. DHCP is not working, and it shows an impossible address and mask. Manual configuration does not work.
I don’t want to mislead anyone, but I did a quick test.
CE22 NO 20250704
This seems to work well (after a quick test).

Then I upgraded to 20251025.
Menu set to 1080p@50
Reboot
Menu set to 60Hz by itself.
