I found the last working nightly, it’s the 20250903 one..so it looks like the current kernel version is the reason?

Yes, same issue with AM9 Pro here.

Hi. I encountered a very annoying bug. The CE-NO version is the latest nightly version, nightly_20260405. Dune Pro Vision 4K. There are six episodes in the series folder, and rewinding doesn’t work on two of them if the file is played from the beginning. The standard h264 1080p files, and the display is also 1080p. Neither rewinding the video forward/backward nor jumping to a specified time works. Every time when I press the rewind button it just freezes and the Kodi circle shows 0 to 1 or 100. The issue isn’t network-related, as the same behavior occurs even if the files are on a local drive. If you don’t rewind, there are absolutely no problems. Disabling hardware decoding completely solves the problem. It’s definitely not a file issue, as I’ve encountered the same bug before, and back then, it was one of the six files in the folder that was causing the problem. And also because the problem doesn’t occur on Kodi 22 alpha 3 for Windows, nor on DuneOS on the same box with hardware decoding enabled. So it looks like it’s a CoreELEC bug. If you try rewinding after 1-2 minutes, rather than from the very beginning, the problem still occurs. But if you try rewinding after ~10 minutes, it doesn’t. And if the file was previously opened, and when you reopen it, playback doesn’t start from the beginning, there are no rewinding issues right away. The log is quite large, I don’t know how to insert it here, but the file was opened at 3:05 AM, and I tried rewinding at 3:05:24 AM:

It’s not because of Unpause Jumpback. I tried disabling it, as well as all other service add-ons. Enabling/disabling audio passthrough doesn’t help. There are no issues with the sound; it plays almost from the first seconds of the episode.
Reducing the video queue (seconds and megabytes, a new setting introduced in Kodi 22) changes the behavior - the sound continues playing and the Kodi circle is gone, but the video still freezes.
Log isn’t useful, does not contain debug information and just a snippet.
Probably best to provide a sample clip of the problematic file so testing can be performed on it and with it directly.
Judging by the resolution 1912x1072 I’m guessing it’s some sort of anime with non-standard encoding (because it just always seems to be with those files).
This isn’t anime. It’s the British series “The Night Manager.” It’s unlikely to be a file issue, since, firstly, the other four have the same parameters and the same resolution, were created in the same version of mkvmerge, and everything works fine. And these aren’t even rips, they’re WebDL. Secondly, those two files that were problematic for CoreELEC don’t have any issues anywhere else. Literally everywhere I could test them: Android and Windows, Kodi 21 and 22 alpha 3, and several other players. HW decoding everywhere.
Moreover, the files play without any problems in CE-NO, and if you rewind after watching about 10 minutes, the problem is not appears. The same applies if you reopen the file at 10+ minutes.
There was also the same problem, as I mentioned, with 1 of the 6 files from an American TV series with a frequency of 23.978.
And, as I mentioned, disabling hardware decoding completely solves the problem.
It doesn’t seem at all that the files themselves are to blame.
Ok since you’re certain.
I see, and these are never broken by whoring around the internet and being touched by who knows. (sarcasm)
No problem, I will not comment any further.
Have a nice day.
I have Ugoos AM9, yesterday’s nightly build gave issues with streaming a movie, 30min in the picture froze and movie jumped forward twice on 2 different sources, rolled back to previous build and same stream played fine.
When having issues with media files the only way is to provide a sample to be able to reproduce the error locally.
Thank you. Here’s the file.
I’ve been ‘playing’ with the cache settings in Kodi (NO nightly builds) and they don’t seem to have an effect. Are they redundant when used with CE? I think that the UI settings are now the correct route and not advancedsettings.xml?
I believe you are correct about the AS change.
Default settings should be fine in most scenarios, but definitely not mine ![]()
I am trying to figure out the new ‘player’ setting (where number of seconds and queue size can be set) in conjunction with the cache settings in ‘services’.
Are you sure you are not noticing a difference? What happens if you fiddle with settings in both/either section ?
PS: setting player cache to 2 secs solves my issues, just curious about your experiences
Has anyone tried this sample? Are there any problems with rewinding in NO?
I’m not seeing a setting for seconds.
I’ve got the ability to change the cache size 64/128/256/512 etc Mb with 64 as default, also chunk size (128k is default) and read ahead (adaptive is default and sound sensible) but whatever I set I get the same outcome
I’ve also changed the NFS chunk size to either 256 or 512k from the default 128k but this crashes on my Xiaomi devices, fine on others and makes a big difference.
Settings → Player → Advanced (added in v22).
For cache settings, I just leave it at default or even ‘off’. These depends on network conditions and other variables (in my case, hdhr tuners require les aggressive caching).
Sorry to say, can’t help much with the results you get on some devices as I have no experience with those..
Your sample is only 3mins. It plays ok on my s905x4 but if I try to do a small jump forward video stops but sound continues.
My comments are probably not much help.
Oh I see! I was talking about the Services menu. I hadn’t seen that in Player. I’ll have a look
Curious about your findings.
Regarding chunk size, I just checked the values the other side was expecting and aligned those. Mismatching values can do all sorts of fun things ![]()
