4K 2.65 codec video and TV broadcasts work with Ugoos AM8 20240820 dated software.
1- Does not show videos with Av1 codec
2- Colors are distorted on TVs without DV and HDR support.

AV1 on Amlogic-no is currently broken and will not be solved soon I think.

Ugoos AM8 has DV enabled by default on boot.

Run once by SSH:
fw_setenv status_dolby 0
And reboot and DV on boot should be disabled and HDR is working again.

After the SSH command, the colours returned to normal in SD broadcasts, but the colours are still distorted in HD broadcasts.

The CoreELEC Amlogic aarch64-22.0-piers build does not have this problem.

NE? This because there does a dovi.ko exist.

Black screen only when trying to play videos on my 2GB Odroid N2. Using this with clean install;

CoreELEC-Amlogic-no.aarch64-22.0-Piers_nightly_20240820-Odroid_N2.img.gz

Would a log be useful or is this a known issue?

Do you mean on AM8? AV1 OK on my UGOOS X4 with CE-no. Using a build from earlier this year though.

Yes, S5 S928X, AV1 is broken by driver source.

On Odroid N2 2GB videos don’t play in night lies 19 and 20th (at least). When updating thought I saw something about too many arguments in (line 426?) of (dtb.xml?).

Anyhow log

Edit added pic of screen showing it’s trying to play. There is no sound as well

@sonofdibnah I’m seeing these two suspicious(?) lines in your logs (and my logs) after choosing to play a file;

2024-08-21 17:15:16.745 T:1133    debug <general>: CAMLCodec::OpenDecoder codec init failed, ret=0x100000a
2024-08-21 17:15:16.745 T:1133    error <general>: CDVDVideoCodecAmlogic::AddData: Failed to open Amlogic Codec

You’re ahead of me in analytical ability. Hopefully this and my log will lead to the fixing of our problem once Devs have had chance to look at it.

As an aside - your TV screen is overscanning, so you are missing the edges of the GUI (and whatever video you are playing). Set it to “justscan” or “exactscan” or whatever your TV make/model refers to the screen setup.

It’s good if you to point that out but I was aware of it. I did a minimal fresh install linked to a little telly in order to capture a log of the problem. My main setups are all done properly.

Continuing the quest to get N2 to play video, I tried the latest nightly this morning. Same result.

If it helps, here’s (an over scanned) photo of the update screen showing the too many arguments.

Please share your dtb.xml from COREELEC partition.

dtb.xml (6.1 KB)
Dtb.xml as requested. Log has been provided a few posts up.

Really hope you can sort this and keep the N2 running with the latest. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: even I can see that there’s no line 426.

EDIT2: Just tried the SD card I am using in my N2+ 4GB and video plays without a problem.

@Portisch and @RowanCE, on the N2 2GB issue, I’ve found that video plays if I turn off hardware acceleration. Hope this helps locate the issue.
