I am on the latest slimboxtv 35.1 for tox3 (ucode 3.49) which uses the stock firmware released for tox3, but there is a firmware that is based on ugoos x4 released at the end of the year based on ugoos firmware 1.2.4. If anyone has ugoos x4 or slimBOXtv 114.22 tell us what ucode it is.

Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus with the newest SEI804HM_firmware.14.8.2463 gives you ucode 4.130

Okay, looks like the same issue, the X96Max+ Ultra is running the latest release (X96Max_Plus_Ultra_20221026-0948.img) and the Android ucode is 3.33. So looks like the box is trash, weird thing is, it plays AV1 fine under Android Youtube app, so if CE Kernel requires newer ucode for AV1 playback, then thats that. Looks like ucode 4.x is only available on DolbyVision certified devices such as Dune or Homatics. Every other device seems to be stuck on 3.x and have to live with it

Just our two cents.
Itā€™s not a decision by CoreELEC to get such issues.
Itā€™s Amlogic introduced a new security update in bootloader and firmware. New and old firmware is just not compatible anymore. This is since SoC SC2, T7 and S5. SoC before donā€™t use TEE at all so arenā€™t affected.

There is no issue for Android as they get delivered compatible, bootloader and firmware.

So if you got a device not compatible with the new security system itā€™s best to stay on old CoreELEC version what is still compatible with it.
Itā€™s mostly CE-NE.

If you donā€™t care about AV1 or VC-1 you just can skip this fact. Other decoders are implemented long enough to still work fully with old firmware as well.

Never blamed the CE Team, Amlogic is to blame as they only care about the Android side. Case in point, they dont even release a linux driver for their own Wifi+BT chip AML-W1. Thanks to CE team atleast WiFI works on the X96Max+ Ultra.
CE-NE would have been a viable option, but you yourself have mentioned that CE22 would be NO only and S905X4 devices must use NO only

So stuck between a rock and a hardplace. Kodi 20 was pure garbage and should have never been released, Kodi 21 is bearable at best and Kodi 22 is chefā€™s kiss. It would be amazing if CE22-NE was ever released after Kodi22.0 is released, one can only hope :slight_smile:
