Audio cutting in and out with Output Configuration set to Best Match

Hello,

CE-NG 21.2, latest nightly (NG because FEL).

Recently I’ve noticed an issue where playing a FLAC (i.e. non passthrough) track results in the audio cutting in and out periodically. Passthrough audio is not affected. I noticed that when I switched the Audio Output Configuration to Fixed, the audio track does not cut out, but then you cannot passthrough audio if you switch to a compatible audio track. I don’t recall this being an issue before.

Attached is a log with the Audio Output Configuration set to Best Match and the default audio track is FLAC 2.0. The audio cuts out periodically.

kodi.log (2.8 MB)

Here is a log with the Audio Output Configuration set to Fixed with the same audio track as before. The audio does not cut out.

kodi3.log (3.4 MB)

One observation I had was that it seems to occur most of the time when the audio sampling rate is 44.1 kHz. However, this is not always true. The following log is for a FLAC 2.0 track @ 44.1kHz with the Audio Output Configuration set to Best Match which does not cut out.

kodi2.log (1.9 MB)

I’m unsure whether other kernels are affected, but I’m hoping we can track down the issue on NG.

Thank you.

Sure, but NG is EOSD.
Try again with CE-NO!

I don’t believe I can test CE-NO due to no compatible dtb for the 2nd gen Fire Cube (although I am remaining on NG due to FEL).

I tried 21.2 NG stable and the issue was there as well.
