Read again Amlogic-no, New Order
Yes I read two things :
first
device actually supported (S905X3)
second
Amlogic-ng will be maintained but until the [EOSD]
Ok A little confusing ā¦ I understand that my S905X3 will run Amlogic-no but ng will be only EOSD
Ok
I just received my Mecool KM2 Plus Deluxe. It supports Dolby Vision, but canāt get CoreELEC to run on it.
I only tested the "CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.aarch64-21.0-mega_nightly_20231218-Generic.img. With sc2_s905x4_sei_smb_280.dtb device Tree.
Are there other device Trees I should test??
Thanks
BTW, after only a few hours of testing, the firmware on this box needs a lot of work.
Mecool is not supported by CoreELEC.
Its not rocktek. kinhank.
My Beelink GT1 finally diedā¦ 1 month away from a solid 5yrs of daily use. Sadly, Beelink doesnāt seem to make these types of boxes anymore, it looks more like mini-PCās which is overkill for me since Iāve been happy with my Beelink GT1 despite being very out-dated.
From what I can tellā¦ the S905X4 is the way to go?
Looking at something under $80CAD if I canā¦ between jobs but without the box my TV is kinda useless.
X96 Max Plus Ultra ($95) and the HK1 RBOX ($80) are the top of my list. Tannix, OTT Box seem similar as well. Ideally find something cheaper (I donāt need bundled keyboards or even the remote really) but also ideally something plain, simple and not some weird alien shape with RGB all over it. The Beelink has a nice dim white power light and nothing else and that was perfect.
Are these known to work? Seen a few threads mentioning X96 but also mentioning WiFi/Bluetooth issuesā¦ older threads and likely fixed? Are there any I should look at that may be cheaper or less flashy? On the surface a lot of these seem to have the same specs and range from $60-100CAD, but also probably some specs a bit fudged or Iām missing a key spec that will make a difference between good and bad.
How are you planning on using the box? Gaming, local streaming, only streaming apps, etc.
Oops, sorryā¦ rambled on and forgot the purpose.
For 5yrs I have never used the Android portion on the Beelink. SDCard bypasses it at startup to KODI and from there I stream YouTube, and tv/movies from my NAS (WD MyCloud EX2).
I might give it a try for a few games? Maybe? Beelink issue for me was that the interface was absolute trash. Slow, choppy and poorly designed. Great hardware, not great GUI.
But, in shortā¦ I just want it for playing off the NAS and YouTube streaming. I have a 4K TV (LINK) but I try to keep my movies at 4K 10bit SDR simply because the other TVās using my NAS are not 4K and no HDR. But if lasts 5yrs like the Beelink, Iād like some future proofing, even if only a bit.
Iāve not updated my Beelink in years and again, been very happy with it and CoreElec.
Take a look at the TOX3. Great little, well ventilated, media player for CoreELEC. For less than 50 US dollars.
Place everything except Doby Vision. It does play HDR 10 and HDR10 Plus.
Geez, even after exchange its always so much cheaper in the USA. In Canada, not many Canadian sellers offer it, and before shipping, looks like about $95-125CAD.
What do I need for Dolby vision? Do some s905x4ās have it and others not? Or do I need a different chip?
Do you buy from AliExpress?
Amlogic has a S9054-K and -J to signify Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Still over $100 on AliExpress plus ETA of mid Februaryā¦ No thanks.
I buy cheap small stuff of AliExpress but given how many scams are on their, sellers that vanish the next day, etcā¦ Anything like an android box that may/not need returned, Iāll stick with Amazon, Newegg or even eBay.
So by S9054-K you mean s905x4-k? Not recalling seeing the k or j in the listings. I am seeing a lot of complaints that they advertise 1000M Ethernet and only 100Mā¦
Right now, because of price and availabilityā¦ The [Hk1 S905X4](Android 11.0 Amlogic S905X4 4GB 64GB Support LAN 1000M MXIII Pro 2.4G 5G Dual WiFi BT 4.0 TV Box S905X4 chipset Support 8K 4K 3D Ultra HD Amazon.ca) is on my short list. $80CAD and $5 off.
Looks like a few sellers of that or a silver version, different name same specs.
Well, still AliExpress and in Canada about $115 plus shipping plus 4 weeks delivery.
I just finished school, not working yet and Xmas wiped me out so, $80 budget is still pricey for me, definitely not adding 50%.
TV has nothing else connected to it so, kinda dead.
I know the TV has Dolby Visionā¦ Not sure if the Beelink did or not or if something Iād use. Not a common format is it? I mean, less often used than hd10 and such?
Old (long) thread but, I am looking at the HK1 S905x4 right now and wanted to confirm, it works with CoreElec? Just install and go? Or is there some fighting around with it?
I my price range and reviews say itās actually 1000M Ethernet not false advertising. Mt Beelink GT1 of 5yrs died and looking for a replacement cheap in Canada, for streaming from my NAS.
Hoping to buy ASAP because TV is useless without it (no cable, DVD player, etc, just the box). Thanks
They sell two versions, different colors. One is gigabit Ethernet, The other oneās only base 100 ethernet. Just make sure you get the right one.
There was a lot of problems with this box originally, they put different ethernet cards in it. It was a struggle to get drivers to match the different ethernet modules that was included.
Ug, hate thatā¦ Basically gotta buy it and immediately crack it open is what youāre saying?
Looking at
[LINK](Amlogic S905X4 TV Box Android 11.0 TV Box HK1 Box 4GB RAM 64GB ROM Dual-WiFi 2.4GHz/5GHz BT Quad Core 64 Bits 3D/8K 1000M Smart TV Box Amazon.ca)
Donāt know what the extra box is in the photo, you know how Amazon ads are with foreign sellersā¦ Photos and descriptions are kinda iffy.
Is that $85 Canadian or US money? If thatās you us money thatās a lot of money.
Amazon.ca so Canadianā¦ Given that Iām Canadian and all.
But yes, I always say Canadian in forums and everyone responds in USD and kinda throws stuff off.
Iām hoping $80CAD or less and seems like S905X4 boxes start at around $80 hereā¦ $35 USDā¦ Thatās the problem in Canada, even after the exchange rate, stuff like electronics are still 25% more.
Basically just streaming videos on YouTube and an external network drive. Might give a game a try but in the 5yrs I had the Beelink GT1, Iāve never used the android stuff.
Beelink has been great for 5yrs and I think last update was 2 maybe 3yrs ago when came off CoreElec support? And never needed an update. But it died finally, HDMI no longer detected.
That said, Hk1 in my budget, and just wanted to know can I download, install and done? Or am I going to send 3days trying to get it working? I just want easy setup and ready to use within an hour like my Beelink.
