Most people don´t want just a stable system

Hello
What about
Amlogic S928X ?
regards
Yes Excellent SoC with CoreELEC
Have the X96X10 Pro S928X-J with Dolby Vision, Box is Flawless on 22 Piers,or any other branch!!!
Grab one and test
Better or less than 922 ? And all audio and video decode?
Issues I encountered on X96 X10:
- Bluetooth doesnât work (at least not with Harmony Hub)
- After waking up from suspended mode Ethernet almost never works
- Occasional reboots out of the blue
Never seen anything like that with the Ugoos AM6B+.
We have 3 daily drivers in house.,family likes to use Android and CoreELEC, so the Ugoos is limited to Android 9,also only have 10 titles in library that are true FEL Profile 7 ,Ugoos is used less ,Both are Excellent Box
The X96X10 PRO S928X-J is playback everything in my Library, so of course not all codecs, H 266 I donât think the SoC supports ![]()
Audio iam limited to 2.1 channel Sound Bar ,so I donât know about all Audio codecs
Other 2 boxes are G1, and Tanix Tx5 Plus Deluxe S905X3, also Flawless!!
Happy Testing
Bluetooth working for me on S905x4.
I also use a Harmony hub BUT its not connected to the CE box by bluetooth..
The hub uses infra red to send signal to Box on all my setups.
HHub only uses bluetooth for my Firesticks.
Hi, i would like to use CoreElec to help a friend and he asked me if this device would be ok: Homatics Android TV Box 11.0, 2025 Latest 4K Smart TV Box Amlogic S905Y4 RAM 2GB ROM 16GB Supports HDR10.0 WiFi5 Dolby, Chromecast, Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ with Voice Remote Control: Amazon.de: Electronics & Photo
I am not sure if that device is supported by coreelec. Anyone an idea? The budget is very limited, unfortunately.
I think it does not support third party images.
Search forum.
hey, that device is slow, whatâ his max budget and what ae his needs? you can buy direct from China
best budget is Vontar X4
a user here has it up and running
much better and cheaper.
you can run Coreelec of an sdcard and keep android or for faster install corelec n the internal nand (lose android).
it wonât do DV , for DV you can look at
thanks! the only requirement he has is watching movies (youtube and from external (SSD or usb stick) in FullHD), the budget is ~80 EUR max.
I will recommend him Xiaomi TV Box S - 4K UHD, Dolby Vision, 32GB, WiFi 6, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, Bluetooth 5.2, Wireless 360° Bluetooth Connectivity, Compatible with Google Voice Assistant: Amazon.de: Electronics & Photo
I do not see any SD-card slot, so i assume its required to flash coreelec to a usb stick then? Does it automatically boot from USB?
edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQvdxOw182M he shows how to install, usb is fine i guess.
Just noticed there is no IR on the box. I assume it should be no problem to use a playstation controller when i use an usb hub? Or does it also support CEC? In the video i saw âCEC adapter initializedâ
i recommended him now the box + UGREEN 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub USB Splitter 5Gbps USB Multiple Connector USB Splitter for MacBook, iMac, Surface, Dell, Thinkpad, USB Stick, Mobile HDD, Desktop PC and More: Amazon.de: Computer & Accessories + SanDisk Ultra Flair USB 3.0 Flash Drive with up to 130 MB/s, Black 128gb: Amazon.de: Electronics & Photo
why do you need a USB hub? I buy from AliExpress, you can get a vontar x4 for around 40 euros
search for in aliexpress
**VONTAR X4 Amlogic S905X4 Smart TV Box Android 11 4GB 128G 32GB 64GB Wifi BT AV1 Media Player TVBOX 4K 1000M Set-Top-Box

you should get a discount code. it has an sdcard slot and 2 USB. you use sdcard to install coreelec in the internal emmc which will make it fast
The xiaomi doesnât have ethernet and it will be slower from USB compared to vontar x4 insalled on emmc. or you can insall using sdcard and keep android on vontar x4. for fullhd you donât need xiaomi and itâ cost more. but I reccommend o buy from aliexpress.
because that friend has 0 knowledge of anything technical and i am only here for this week. when i buy from aliexpress it will arrive when i am long gone. must be bought from amazon.de or any other german store, or a store that ships within a week.
because the xiaomi has only 1 usb, and when i must use a usb stick its reserved. so there is no slot available for a keyboard (for the setup) nor for any controller or something else.
@tete I see that makes sense, yes I think the xiaomi is a god buy for your friend, much better than the , hope he likes, and please let us know how it went
if i understood that correctly, that device is not supported.
unfortunately, the xiaomi box will also not arrive until weekend, so i will do that when i am here again.
Is the Vontar X4 better? Does everything work?
On the other hand.. on amazon.de i can send the device easily back if something does not work. But the vontar x4 is not available there.
If nothing critical (or something that should really be considered) speaks against the xiaomi, iâll go with that.
@tete itâs in the hands of the Coreelec team, theyâve already got most of it working, itâll get full support from coreelec.
The Vontar X4 will have everything working, itâs on last gen s905x4, this is slightly slower than the Xiaomi s905x5m but itâs very stable, it can do 4k HDR10+ , no DV. so for your friends needs youâll see no difference in features. it has an sd card and two USB ports + ethernet (no need for adapter or usb stick). so for 40 euros, itâs almost half the price and will do everything the xiaomi does in one clean box.
some have mentioned heating issues so you can also look at TOX3 which is the same except it has better heating but for 1080p I would say Vontar X4 will be no issue.
xiaomi box is worth it if you want 4k dolby vision.
If you are buying one a Xiaomi s905x5m devices specifically for CE use, I would be mindful of their Android updates. CE only boots on that device because of a security loophole. If Xiaomi chooses, they can patch that to disable CE booting in future Android updates.
The same can be said of any Android firmware from any vendor. Iâd look to the companies past behavior. The Xiaomi device is Google certified and past Mi devices have been relatively locked down, so I wouldnât be confident that a future Android update wonât disable CE use. My advice would be to keep Android updates disabled on that device, to avoid another Kinhank G1 situation.
A non-google certified device like the Vontar x4 is very unlikely to ever have CE booting blocked. Homatics (and their clones) is really the only company selling google-certified devices that can boot CE without a hack, which is probably against Googleâs certification requirements.
