CoreELEC 22.0-Piers_alpha1 Discussion

Ahh good to know that the dip switch shall be set to eMMC position. But still in this case it might be able to boot from USB then? I’d rather prefer USB over uSD card for convenience reasons…

If you have something installed on eMMC module then yes. If you don’t have it then only uSD can be used.

And why not just try and see if it works or not. Why asking in advance…

Was already late yesterday, will test tonight. Thanks so far for the hints.

Decided to give a try to a dusted sk1.

Installed latest nightly and True-HD is silent.

DD+ works with atmos..

Could be my setup cause I’ve tried many earlier releases and non of them play true-hd for me.

Swapping device to am6b+ same input and same hdmi all works great.

I was able to boot CoreElec 22 using PetitBoot with an Odroid-N2+.

What I had to do was modifying the last part of boot.ini so it was identical to that of V21. Just adding two lines from the V21 version, like so:

load mmc ${mmc_dev}:1 ${loadaddr} kernel.img
load mmc ${mmc_dev}:1 ${dtb_mem_addr} dtb.img
bootm start
booti ${loadaddr} - ${dtb_mem_addr}
bootm

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Didn’t work for me but I could make it work with CE 22-alpha1 on uSD card and with dip switch in eMMC position. Running fine now.

I tested Piers_alpha1 on an Odroid N2 for 2 days. I had 1 or 2 freezes and kodi rebooted, but the deal-breaker for me was the vpn refusing to connect.

I connect with “service.vpn.manager” plugin with openvpn protocol and although this works perfectly in Omega, in Piers it keeps saying “unable to connect”, and the vpn log shows wrong credentials (???).

Back to Omega, no problems…

Hope you don’t expect your issue ever be solved with such approach.

Surely not vpeter, but this is my daily viewing box. i do not have a spare to experiment or troubleshoot, so I have to revert to what works.

I updated my Box R 4K Plus to the latest kernel with atv 14 and I cannot boot anu of the coreelec builds except for the 22. Is there any way to enable dolby vision? I added dovi.ko to the root directory of the usb stick but it does not work. Besides there is a warning considering the kernel version, but mine is higher that the one mentioned.

I did not find my answer there

No? Like how can we know what you are doing without any log?

I assume you are just using wrong dovi.ko file.

Im using the one for s905x4

Make sure it is thus. ko file

And please go back and reread the wiki

Support is impossible without logs

Hi, I tried to install this version of Coreelec on my Homatics R 4K Plus, and the installation went fine. This is my first experience with Kodi on Coreelec, so I don’t know if it’s wrong that there is no HDR10, DV, etc. setting in the display settings. In addition, anything I play through addons like Disney+, Max, etc., I only have HD as the maximum resolution and no HDR, DV… I haven’t figured out what the problem is :frowning: The only place I can set UHD is the Kodi system resolution. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if there’s something else wrong. Thanks a lot for the advice.

It’s not possible to have higher resolutions or HDR10/DV in streaming a apps. Only in certified devices, in android.

The max resolution is the one that’s possible in Linux.

My display device is a Sony TV that does not support HDR, and my playback devices are two set-top boxes equipped with S905X2 and S928X chips. Before version 22.0, CoreELEC’s HDR to SDR conversion was very dark and the effect was not good. However, after testing CoreELEC 22.0, I found that its HDR to SDR conversion effect is excellent. The colors are very vivid, but there is a fatal flaw: there are flickering light spots in some parts of the picture, which seriously affects the viewing experience. I’m not sure how to upload images from my TV to demonstrate this issue, but the phenomenon should be easy to reproduce. I connected the playback devices to my computer monitor and conducted tests, and found that the results were the same as on the TV.

The first image shows the playback screen from CoreELEC, while the second image shows the normal playback screen from an iPhone.
