Dolby Vision for Minix U22X-J (Max) and Ugoos AM6+

To be honest, is starting a video more than 50/day realistic?

Agreed. One in 300 failures is verging into the ‘shit happens sometimes’ territory.

If you have tried completely fresh installations of CoreElec stable build? Then you may be using the wrong dovi.ko.

Have you have tried playing a DV movie from a directly connected hard drive or SD card? If you are still experiencing these issues then maybe you have a faulty box.

hm, don’t think it’s a HW/FW revision issue. I have two AM6b+ boxes, one from original production run and one from spring this year with updated hw and preinstalled 0.5.4n fw, all is working fine on my end with DV and without (playing both locally and via SMB share).

could be a hardware failure. Have your tried dv from the android os?

maybe try reinstalling the firmware and build from ground up.

I want to have yours glass bowl. But maybe not as it sounds foggy right now…

Nobody have an idea to make a log and look what’s happening?

Maybe your setup does not support TV-Led DV. Try switching to Player-Led and see if it works.

Already tried, same crashing

I have tried Kodi on Android, but it doesn’t seem to support DV, I get only HDR

I have newer Ugoos Am6b Plus with same 054n as you.

Boot back into Android
Ignore Kodi for now

Check your settings
Device Preferences
Display
Screen Resolution

Move down to Color Space Settings
Make sure HDR policy
Is set to Adaptive HDR

Also check in Display Settings
Move down to Dolby Vision

My settings are
Dolby Vision enable with low latency (YUV)
Always on is enabled
(Force always set DV mode)(independentof content)

I dont even use/test Kodi in Ugoos Android 9

Mayve will help

A post was merged into an existing topic: CPM builds

I tested CE (fresh install) with your Android settings, but there is no change in CE, still crashing.
Interesting in Android after I activated DV, Kodi seems to work just fine, no issues except DV FEL is not stable, sometime works, sometime doesn’t work

Under atv14, in homatics, with the dovi.ko in the CE- NO

Dolby Vision working.

@Portisch My post has nothing to do with the cpm build.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this and just purchased an AM6b +.
Regarding the installation instructions, would you guys recommend installing the nightly version or the stable one?! I find conflicting opinions from the installing instructions to what I read on different forums.

Can you please justify your advice with maybe some pro and cons, if you have time.

I really appreciate it.

If you like current features in stable, pick that one. If you like to have all fixes and/or new features up until now (for me, there are a few of those) and don’t mind frequent updates and possible breakage, pick nightly. My 2 cts

I am mostly worried about the audio sync issues. I saw that there is a lot of development on that in the nightly builds, but I am not sure how much of that is implemented in the stable ones yet. I have a LG G4 connected via eARC to a Samsung HW-Q995D (same as 990D) and plan to connect the Ugoos to the TV via soundbar. I have a lot of mkv rips in DV with TrueHD Atmos and DTS:X that I have not been able to see them in anything else than HDR, due to my old TV-AVR configuration. But with the new upgrade, I gave 2 shields a try before making the jump to Ugoos, but with no avail, since I had issues getting video signal under normal conditions with both of them. See this topic on reddit.

I hope this device won’t give me any headaches.

Install the nightly build as it contains a number of bug fixes and improvements not in the stable. These include fixes for hdr playback and the AV sync issues you describe. I don’t routinely upgrade with every nightly though. I have a stable build so unless I encounter any issues or there’s a must have new feature, I won’t be touching it.

I got my AM6B+ a couple of months ago. I use it entirely for playing back remuxes and I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. I had past negative issues with the shield and it has ongoing issues with Dolby vision playback. I still have an Apple TV which is great for streaming but it’s nowhere near as capable as the AM6B+ for playing back remuxes.

You seriously spent $200+ USD on 3x snake oil HDMI cables instead of reconsidering your setup? A $5 monoprice HDMI cable would have achieved the same thing.

If you can’t get multiple Shield Pros to work with DV then I wouldn’t hold my breath on an Am6b+. It’s not the devices giving you headaches, its something in your setup, no need to blame the devices.

Reading your reddit post, your eARC setup is not right:

Shield via HDMI to soundbar. Soundbar via HDMI (e-ARC) to the TV. All cables HDMI 2.1

For eARC its device to TV, then TV to soundbar or AVR on eARC port:
