FEL - Amlogic NO support

what i want is a device that plays a 1:1 backup of a physical disc as cleanly as possble ,

im not a coder or know technical specs of hdmi , codecs and such , so no idea if these things do or dont make a difference , i was just trying to assatain where 22 is currently compared , i understand 22 NO FEL is still in early days , just trying to gather info on weather its worth getting a newer ugoos device and going NO

Then this is exactly what you need. It almost like an UHD BD player. Native….

that’s makes no sense, why run ā€œotherā€ experimental builds when you don’t even know if they make a difference but you won’t try official alpha/beta versions to see how they compare for your application?

you don’t (shouldn’t) need a newer ugoos device, i don’t know which one you have but it probably works fine with CE 22 Beta (AM6B+ does and it’s OLD)

LAV audio sync from the p3i t4a release

ā€LAV Full is now the default passthrough audio sync mode (the setting is renamed from ā€œAudio Fixes modeā€ to ā€œPassthrough audio sync modeā€). It is the validated path for the hardened TrueHD MAT packer and the vsync clock-sync work, and it gives the tightest lip-sync. The setting’s help now spells out the options: LAV Full (recommended default), LAV SB (for seamless-branch discs only), and Off (stock Kodi). The TrueHD packer also picked up a few correctness fixes (negative-padding carry, counter unwrap, and a 96/192 kHz seamless-branch padding fix)ā€

PR welcome.

I beg to differ. For example, the LAV audio path that is present in some alternative builds fixes an issue with some seamless branching titles that were ripped to MKV. Without LAV, audio dropouts will occur with certain titles (example: M3GAN 2.0 Unrated where the girl plants a knife between a guy’s fingers after about 3 minutes).

Contributor SamuriHL has done a great job of porting this to CE from Nevairiel’s Windows code.

And yes, I tested this with the latest CE22-NO nightly (20260703) and the dropout does occur in it.

Tell that to SamuriHL you mentioned.

This issue does not exist in CoreELEC nightly when watching M3GAN 2.0 as a BDMV rip (full disc backup).
Issues with this title only arise in MKV copies and yet CoreELEC is blamed for the issues.

If you also process the MKV through ffmpeg it has issues where the original disc does not.

In my opinion, the LAV work is just masking file problems not fixing anything.

LAV is doing more than just fixing SB titles. It also provides more stable A/V sync. But to each his own I guess. I’m happy with it, you’re happy without it. No harm no foul.

it’s simple, when Kodi is handling seamless branching no issues occur, when mkv writing software handles seamless branching issues occur

i don’t have any sync issues that require more stability with any titles
having a more stable non-experimental CE in total is far more important than chasing a 20ms (for example) lip sync delay
and having a proven tested product not a hack job of an OS is far more important

its not a case of i wont try offical , ill install 22 at some point , yes i can only go on what the devolpers say these features do , but i have no way of measuring between builds other than my eyes

i have a AM6B+

but does 22 run better on a am9 Pro ??

AM6B+ tests ~10% better than AM9 Pro under benchmarks, so benchmarks say AM6B+ is better (by a little)
personally, i run the AM6B+ and it’s perfectly fine, no plans to buy an AM9 at this time since it doesn’t offer anything more

There is nothing experimental or hacky about the alternative builds. In a lot of cases they deliver a more stable, higher quality video and/or audio experience. I really don’t understand the hostility towards them. Did you ever even try one of them?

We won’t go there. Not again. We do our thing, they do theirs, this is CE forum, not theirs.

i’ll answer your question if you answer mine
have you ever looked at their code to say it’s not hacky?
maybe the arbitrary hdmi bytes padding which results in buggy hdmi connections for example?

I am using the latest nightly build. During playback, I encounter intermittent pauses for buffering and constant stuttering; I have to restart the application (sometimes multiple times) to resolve the issue.

I Searched some error log:

I don’t see anything jumping out from the log other than using Kodi’s internal nfs.

Question, how is coreelec connected, if wireless try wired, if wired try different cables - seems like possibly a network issue.

You may also find better results mounting the nfs share to coreelec using automount instead of using Kodi’s internal nfs protocol. - Mount Network Share | LibreELEC.wiki

Secondary question, what is the server OS serving nfs for CE? Probably less relevant but might be useful if there are any known issues to be found with that particular server (thinking prebuilt nas maybe).

I solved the issue using automount—thanks.
By the way, I’m using a wired connection, and the service is the FNAS NAS service.

The only thing that still really annoys me is that when you pause or go back a bit because you want to rewatch something or didn’t understand something, it often goes out of sync. Then you have to press the rewind button 2-3 times for 10 seconds each time, or fast forward once and then back three times.

This is handled better in the enhanced CE21.3 builds, where you can go back and forth as much as you want. It stays in sync or resynchronizes itself within milliseconds.
