[Guide] S922X-J (Ugoos AM6b+) CoreELEC installation and FAQs

Still got problem with turn off the box using ir mode, so i had to switch to Bluetooth mode.
Just download the file from github, change second row to o to open player prosses info when watching movie (menu button) .

How are people going about pairing bluetooth in CoreELEC? I swear I’m not finding any reference too BT in the settings.

Look under ā€œCoreELECā€ settings, not normal settings.

Ah, it would appear my skin was hiding this option, thanks.

Any AM6B+ owners tried HDR to SDR conversion? I’m finding a big difference between DV7 and HDR10 files. With HDR10, the SDR output is extremely dark (with or without the CoreELEC option for SDR tonemapping enabled), whereas for DV7 mkvs the SDR output is excellent. If I disable DV in the CoreELEC settings then the DV7 files output extremely dark, per HDR10. I’m new here so I can post this elsewhere if needed with a log.

What remote is this and can you post the link to github please, thanks.

Can 2021 version update to same firmware?

Of course it can. There is OTA update you can download and update locally: AM6_ota_0.5.4.zip

That’s the same version already on the box.

hi all. first, many thanks to all the devs and supporters here really fantastic!! without a guide like this I would be completely lost, not an it guy.

in order to get the best possible dv fel Pic I’ve ordered an ugoos am6b+.

in the guide here I’ve not read instructions or orientation about the dual boot single boot option, but in another post. is this completely irrelevant for that guide here? not sure I’m getting it completely. to my understanding I will not need dual, I will loose android I don’t care I will use the box only for local content never stream anything like prime or Netflix…

but, question 1, there could advantages to install it on the internal emmc not an SD? faster? but that would mean I need only the other guide not this perfect step by step one here?

other question, 2, are the links provided here on top the latest or is there any other search I should do in advance

also the discussion about v20 and 21 and the dv image and the non dv and the merge and change of the different namings are a bit confusing for me. maybe that could be added on top? what exactly am I getting here and are there old new nightly alternatives or not I should consider…

I’m not even sure what exactly I want, maybe the most recent without any hussle or danger of having a brick later

sorry if to basic!!! looking forward to become an coreelecter

I wrote the guide to be as easy to follow and it is up to date. To answer your questions,

  1. Dual boot is faster and does not remove android.

  2. They are the latest.

  3. Use 21-NG (the one linked in post 1)

  4. There are no old nightlies. The archive only goes back one day. Much has changed in the past two months so much of the information that exists no longer applies.

  5. It’s actually really hard to brick your device if you run CoreELEC from a flash media. Basically, the install of CoreELEC just tells the device to first try booting from the flash media first and then the internal storage. Even if you transfer CoreELEC to internal storage using the ceemc tool, it will still try to boot from the flash media first. So, you can always run CoreELEC from flash media even if your internal one is completely hosed. Ugoos also provides an image that allows you to flash the entire device from over USB as they do in the factory. In short, welcome and don’t worry too much because bricking is nearly impossible (but please don’t try nobody here is responsible).

great! many thanks!!!

  1. dual boot it is. faster sounds great
that means I need yours and the other guide correct?

I copy everything on an USB stick with the tool as described here. then I somehow bring that on the internal emmc with the other guide?

thanks! happy Saturday!

Yes, copied the file to the root dir from flashdrive. Same folder level als the dtb file. i’m not using a nightly build, just the latest omega stable. Are there other places the file should be placed or does the box need a FW update before it all should work?

The difference is Ugoos tacked on the 2024 to their listing to entice people to buy it directly from them due I guess to renewed interest in it .

They’re also charging more than you can get through third party sellers.

Honestly given the locked bootloader. I’m not even sure you could hard brick the Ugoos boxes especially with an OTG cable on hand and the amlogic firmware burning tool. At least not with the options described here.

Posters are loading very slow, and keep reloading when browse movies, is there anyway to make it loads faster and stop reloading, like db optimization!?
Running CE on dual boot internal memory.

ok found the device tree  easy file download  but no ugoos am6+ only am6, I hope that’s the same here? thanks!!

Try it and see if it boots.

@vpeter Will the upcoming fix for the permission error caused by booting to android run automatically or will it need to be selected by the user?
