I came down to the same conclusion. I daily use the ugoos AM8 pro (works great on the nightlies of CE22 (except lipsync) and also got an U22-XJ on the road, for FEL. May i ask what version of CE have you installed in it? CE 21.1.1 NG nightly plus/minus CPM? Is it worth installing this CPM build for a normal sony XR85J DV android TV?
Did you placed the dovi.ko in the root of the pendrive?
Yes. If the file is missing, Dolby Vision would not work at all?
I cant tell, because i see no difference with or without CPM.

I use regular nightlies. I canāt answer about cpmās builds.

and?) this is a bit of old news. FFMpeg 7 didnāt make it in time for Omega/21 release, It should already be in 22. But overall I donāt think that it brings much to the table for DV playback (esp FEL) on the current mainstream boxes.

By default Dolby Vision is set to off.

When a movie got HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, how can i achieve that it use the HDR10+ instead of the Dolby Vision? Or must i toggle the Dolby Vision complete off then?
In versions A6 and above there is an option to prioritize HDR10+ ā DV conversion vs the native DV.
Iām curious, in which movie do you guys prefer HDR10plus over DV?
Sicario is one such example as it has static DV, only example I can think of.

Indeed, this one has bad DV metadata and i generated new metadata too.
But keep in mind that sometimes, they do static L1 but the L2 or L8 trims are not static which will be better than HDR10plus to DV because the trims are done manually and monitored by the colorist. Example Superman II
Then it plays still DV? I mean, got a Samsung TVā¦ this to play SDR to DV. But when HDR10plus is available, i prefer that above DV.
On a Samsung TV, you shouldnāt use the HDR10plus to DV conversion. Just use HDR10plus natively. Iām guessing CPM build prioritize HDR10plus on HDR10plus TV by default? someone else should be able to confirm
How do you guys know if the conversion from HDR10+ metadata to DV is working properly? I tried with a test video, the one that shows a lake with different levels of brightness, but the image does not change in brightness. According to that video it means is only using the HDR10 static metadata.
Yes, i want to use HDR10+. But when a movie has both HDR10+ and DV, it does the DV. So i think the only option is to turn it off then.
right, there should be a switch to prioritize HDR10plus and it would be a pain in the ass to always have to turn off DV.
Try this. The HDR10plus metadata are OOS and brightness change should be visible
