Help, support CPM build

There’s absolutely zero benefit in you using the CPM build given that you have a Dolby Vision compatible tv and given your described use case. Just use the latest NG nightly. You won’t miss out on any quality. The CPM builds are great but they’re about converting from one format to another eg. Dolby Vision → HDR 10. You want to play everything natively and the latest nightly will do that.

Oh ok. Hm how do I downgrade/uninstall the CPM build? xD

Won’t miss anything? How about VS10? Since when this feature is also part of the Nightly?

Just upgrade to the latest nightly when it comes out. Or you could download the latest one and copy it into the update folder on your Ugoos and reboot.

For what it’s worth I asked about the need for the CPM build when I got my Ugoos last month. My use case is very similar to yours and the developer of the CPM build told me not to bother with it. It used to fix a bug with HDR playback but that’s now been incorporated into the nightly build.

What exactly is VS10? :stuck_out_tongue:

What benefit will that bring for him?

Some people like to use it to convert SDR or HDR10 to Dolby Vision because they like the way it makes the picture looks on their TV. If that’s something that’s useful to you or you think you might like then give it a go.

I personally prefer to preserve the image as it was mastered for the source. My tv is ISF calibrated so I want SDR material to remain SDR. HDR to remain HDR and Dolby Vision to remain Dolby Vision.

Hm, yea I’m not sure turning SDR into Dolby Vision is a great idea. I’m leaning towards preserving as is. Only situation I could consider it is maybe with HDR10+ content, but anything with that also already has Dolby Vision.

I did read something about “a more reliable Dolby Vision switching mode”. Not exactly sure what this means in my situation tho. But it does sound like a positive. :stuck_out_tongue:

ChatGPT also told me about Low-Latency Dolby Vision, but I don’t think that’s for a TV right?

But with the generic nightly, I do get the full FEL support right? The Enhancement Layer?

Also. If I do stay. What should these two settings be: Dolby VSVDB and Colorimetry?

Also I noticed a new setting on C2 TV: 4:4:4 Pass Through. Not sure if I should enable that or not?

You don’t want LLDV. Go for TV led for your tv. And yeah, there was actually a bug a week or so ago on the nightlies regarding playback of some FEL files but that’s been fixed now.

Can’t help with your CPM settings unfortunately as, following my exchange with the developer, I decided not to install it.

I’ll have to check if I get that passthrough option on my tv. I have a C9 so a bit older than yours

Alright, maybe someone else will answer those questions for me. But thank you for your input, appreciate it!

Edit: I think the 4:4:4 mode is for games, not movies.

I have this problem with A8:
for a 4K SDR TV series, any episode I try to play, it doesn’t work (no signal). If I enable the conversion from SDR to HDR10 (or Dolby Vision), it works. I specify that other devices play the SDR episodes correctly.

Edit:
A9 has partially fixed the problem. I have to play the episode several times before it works

Unless you use a projector or want LLDV (which you shouldn’t), leave Dolby VSVDB on off and Colorimetry on disable/remove. Also, all that’s in CE nightlies is included in CPM build, since it’s based on those nightlies, so you lose absolutely nothing by installing it, but gain some features (which you might need/use or not) for free. To me, the new PlayerProcessInfo panel alone makes installing it worthy, beside the other features/fixes.
I understand Unmutual’s disappointment with cpm’s reply, as he tends to be curt sometimes, but this should not dissuade you from trying his build, as many other users here can attest. Since you do not have an HDR10+ TV, the VS10 conversion to DV feature as opposed to your TV falling back to static HDR10 metadata is really worth it. And no, not all HDR10+ titles have also a DV version.
In the end though, to each its own.

Ty for that post. I had to re-read it 3 times because you kept updating it (lol). But I appreciate you explaining it.

New user here as well with same TV and using a soundbar with ARC functionality as you. Ended up using CPM build for the functionality of being able to watch HDR10+ movies converted into DV (as the LG doesn’t support it), anythign else I leave disabled and being set on TVLED DV.
Also the extended player processor info with some very good skins -not all updated here unfortunately, makes the jump to CPM worthile as well.

Also currently only one active and dedicated user that keeps updating AZR skin with latest updates from CPM into the player processor info. I only wish there were such updates that could be done for the other favs from Artic skins…like AH2 or Fuse.

L.E. current issues that I am facing with AM6B+ is the fact that the remote doesn’t wake up the device…have to manually turn it on when using the magic remote and used to get HDMI signal losses when randomly playing videos. Changed the HDMI cables to better quality ones with shorter length…which I hope it solved my issues.

Hehe the only skin I will ever use is the Arctic Zephyr 2 Resurrection.

I also having remote issues. The only one I have that works, I hate, and its the G10S Pro BT. UR01 is not a very good remote. Also Nvidia Shield remote that I do like, dont work with power on… And I can’t get my Magic remote from LG to do anything in kodi.

I did order a new remote today tho, https://www.amazon.se/dp/B0C1TVL8RN
Hopefully I have better luck with that.

Edit: This forum is having issued with me quoting the correct person. I think maybe its because a post is updated while Im typing? xD

I appreciate your input into this discussion and for the detailed information you’ve included.

I’d like to clarify that I was in no way disappointed in CPMs reply and did not find him curt or abrupt in any way. I advised him of my use case and queried whether there would be any benefit to me in installing his build. He confirmed his view that there wasn’t and also advised that the fix for the bug affecting HDR playback had been incorporated into the nightlies when I asked him.

The exchange is here and runs over 4-5 posts Discussion

He gave me exactly the information I needed to make an informed decision based on my use case and I appreciated his replies.

I still follow this thread as it interests me and his CPM builds might be useful to me in the future if, for example I start to encounter HDR10+ material which isn’t available in Dolby Vision, I get a tv which doesn’t support Dolby Vision or it offers ongoing support when NG builds are abandoned.

I’m more of an ‘as the director intended’ kind of viewer and ‘on the fly conversion’ is something which makes me uncomfortable so theres no significant benefit to me at present but I appreciate the work done on this build and the benefit it brings to others.

Finally, I just wanted to check that the latest CPM builds were still based on the latest nightlies. The NG nightly thread had a post recommending the CPM build around a week ago as they said they were no longer based on the latest nightlies and were a workaround for the FEL bug (which has now been fixed).

How can I bind the player processor in CPM to a button?

With the add-on Keymap Editor.

Which version of the AZR skin are u using exactly? (where can I get it?)

The AZ2:R version that @frodo19 modded for cpm is here (last mod was for CPM build A6):

The original is here:
