How to configure VFD

Thanks again and Happy Hanukkah/Xmas to you and everyone else.

So I ran cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio and got command not found, great. However I noticed terminal emulator listed it as a A95X_R2 so I tried that config and DTB and it worked, time, colon, icons etc all great. You can update that Config to say it also works on the Goobang Doo XB-III.

Hello!

Does the display work with X96 Air 2/16 version?

Yes it does.

I tried this VFD, x96max_vfd.zip.
My screen is dark.

Read up (or search) in this thread, this box has been mentioned.

I tried all x96 max vfd.conf, didn’t work none.

Make sure that you’re on the latest nightly, then use this vfd:
x96-max-1gbit-vfd.conf

I downloaded the new nightly .img, but still not working.

dmesg:

Can you post the output of cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio in Android?
Like here

This is good?

I think this box has the same problem as another variation of a X96, where we couldn’t figure out how to get it to work. Look for JohnBoyz posts in this thread.

Please test with this one and let me know if it works.

I have a TX3 (S905X3) 4\32G and I managed to create a vfd file that works.
TX3(S905X3)vfd.conf (1.2 KB)

Thanks TheCoolest. That works fine.

The fix will be in tomorrow’s nightly build, so I you don’t need this experimental DTB anymore.

Will there be patch for X96 Air 2/16G version too?

The difference:

X96 MAX gpio-474

My X96 Air gpio-424 port

No, we were never able to get the vfd to work on that box.

The .dtb modification required.

It’s not a DTB problem. There is no way to determine which pins the vfd controller uses.
