Khadas VIM3 testbuilds

Thanks, I completely missed this info. It works nickel.

For now, apart from the erratic frequency of the CPU and the amount of Rame, I do not see any bug. It’s like my N2, with the addition of 8K video playback in VP9… perfect to start the tests

On the hardware side, for me this box, is the finalized and upscale version of the S922, and the N2 looks more like a development kit next door. Super find this Vim3. The only thing regrettable, the plastic box, should have been aluminum for better dissipation!

On this subject, how did you solve the radiator problem that does not fit in the box ?

FYI, the temperature ticks to 62 ° C (without fan, locked in a piece of furniture) and everything is stable.

When playing 8K @ 24 content, the amp receives a 4K @ 24 signal. Do you know if it is possible to add an option so that the output signal stays in 8K ? This would be very convenient for performing the first 8K hardware tests. This would make the Vim3 @CE the first multimedia box to play the 8K HDR perfectly.

Not possible, there is no code in the HDMI driver to support this resolution, smpte60hz (4096x2160p60) is the highest available display output resolution.

Did the lastest nightbuild fix the installtoemmc issue for V12 board version?

@Portisch and @vpeter have been working on a new installtoemmc that maintains dual boot compatibility and have asked me not to continue working on the method I initially used for the v11 boards as it’s counterproductive to what they are working on.

So next time the command is ‘installtointernal’ not ‘installtoemmc’?

No sorry it was a 4am typo

Ok, I see. Thanks

Too bad !
thanks

With the CE edition N2 being released will your time and effort be focused mainly on that or will you still be working on the VIM3 builds?
I’ve been using mine for a while now and it is pretty stable already but it would be even better if the things like CEC could be fixed

CoreELEC for N2 is in stable phase. The launch of the N2 CoreELEC edition won’t affect the work on other devices.

Hey,
I like this display in the front.
What size display is that and how did you connect and configure it ?

Thanks

It’s a 0.91’ 128x32 oled, you must install openvfd addon, and download kvim3-ssd1306-12832-hw-i2c-vfd.conf rename to vfd.conf then put it to ce config folder

# On display:
# VCC - 3.3V (KVIM3: Pin #27)
# GND - GND (KVIM3: Pin #24)
# SCL - vfd_gpio_clk = GPIODV_25 (I2C_M3_SCL - KVIM3: Pin #22)
# SDA - vfd_gpio_dat = GPIODV_24 (I2C_M3_SDA - KVIM3: Pin #23)

That’s good to hear!

That’s the wrong image. The correct image has -ng in the name. You can download the one from 24 August here http://coreelec.pokey.de/

Using this image i suppose I will have to change the dtb to khadas-vim3, is that right ?

You have to rename the correct dtb to dtb.img and put it in the root of the card.

Where can I find the kodi source code to compile it for AML G12 SOC with a linux DE ?
I failed to find someone who is maintaining the KODI codes for Amlogic S9xxx
