Kinhank G1

Thanks for helping me realise that I could also post an image here instead of finding out what to look for myself!

Hope this gives an idea if I have the right hardware for this or not? If not I think it’s not too hard to get a USB Ethernet adapter anyway, and I’ll likely get better speeds than the expected 100Mbs anyway.

Actually yours does have a “missing” chip by the SD card slot that Zuma and I have, so there are different revisions of the box.

Yes correct
Where is Max Linear ethernet transceiver???

My image is bad but that would be on Zuma’s
image

someone on facebook page ( KinHanK Groups – After Sales Service & Feedback | Facebook ) asked

When will the issue with the blocked dual booting be fixed?

“Hass Almr This is uncertain, Google requires encryption”

This is the first time I’ve seen him acknowledge the “broken” update. But I’m no Computer Scientist but what has google got to do with this?

is what he said plausible explanation or is this a good indicator that KinHank are trying to just use time to make this go away?

Perhaps the Google DRM cert requires locked bootloader. Without this you can’t play 4K Netflix and other streaming apps…

in developer mode we have option for unlock bootloader
is this fix boot coreelec ?

homatics can boot ce/ee,it can play 4K Netflix and 4k disney plus etc.

Your device do not have a eth chip assembled.
You would need to make a Android dmesg log.

And extract Android DT: coreelec:devicetree [CoreELEC Wiki]

Or even better a UART log. The pins are on the right top of your picture.

Mine works over 450mb/s using Portisch NG file.
On NE it is only 100mb/s and no wifi in menu.
I am going to try an usb to eth when it arrives.

I noticed when I first turned it on with no CE sd card it went to a screen asking me to log into my google account.(which I dont have) So there may be sometning in the google comment above.
I saw no way around that so I next used an sd card with ce and it loaded ce straight away using the reset button procedure.

Yes
Thats same as i have

Portisch has addressed user womars issue with missing chip

Kinhank set internal and external phy the same time in Android DT.
This does not work for us as the kernel would need a hack for this.
So when the bootloader does not signal what is assembled it’s not doable.

Run fw_printenv | paste and print environment for such G1 device without eth chip.

This is one reason we recommend devices to use from one of our supporter.

When the device stay locked it’s anyway time to remove support of this device in future.

Hey, does the Kinhank G1 have different hardware versions? I tested it on ce-ng, and the Ethernet speed is only 100M.

I’m more inclined to think KinHank aren’t “fixing” anything since it’s by design.
They are very bad if true since they are handing out Bootloader password , but what good is that if we can’t boot anything. and they openly admit it’s a bug and they working on it.
so either they are lying out their teeth and have no intention of fixing it or it will get fixed . but they could just say they are incompetent and can’t.

also I don’t think it’s even the KinHank that is dealing with anything, isn’t the firmware coming from SDMC, I bet KinHank where taken by surprise and thought it’s a bug but on enquiry they realised SDMC made that decision, that is why they took all wording about Coreelec and emulec out in their response, but I took a screenshot so I can shame them once they come out with “google blocked us with encryption so we can’t do anything about it”

it’s such a shame, the box is like $62 all in. would have been the best box for kodi and more of an incentive that coreelec would get bugs fixed on it.
if they don’t have this “fixed” in 2 weeks I’m calling them liars and will be posting in their facebook to shame them

we don’t care about goddamn Kinhank box, and no it’s not the best one, cheap quality stuff, once again, you have other options that works with CE, the world is not centered around this Kinhank crap.

Try CE NG version . Portisch added 1000m

I think that we’ve heard enough about Kinhank in this topic as it can’t boot CE if updated. It’s not a choice for someone wanting android. It’s normal for certified devices to be locked. Let’s not put every device in the line of sight of Google, please.

Please dont. I would then put them in the same boat as H96 X96 etc that are not sold but 1000’s use them with CE.
Many members on here purchased the G1 on recommendations from posters in these threads. We were not to know they would be changed. I also believe the company is looking to change the block made during the upgrade for Google. (sorry lost the link)
I would of purchased a more Expensive unit IF I had the funds but money is tight for a lot of people atm.

Agreed enough about G1

Also Kinhank thread has been reopened i think.
Was closed from no activity.

Post there to discuss

And it comes with different hardware revisions some of which are not supported in CE. So, it’s not going back on the list regardless of its bootloader. I’m not going to recommend a box whose manufacturer likes to change features and hardware. Here today gone tomorrow should not be the motto of a hardware manufacturer.
