Kinhank G1

kinhank paused the last update due to complaints about a locked bootloader

I’m really afraid of the upcoming updates from Google on the Homatics devices, they will probably break the boot CE because they are certified devices.

Dont worry about.

See link from blueyeti2000 above

OK,Thanks!!!

On this G1 box, which “remote.conf” should be used to get original remote controller to work in latest CoreElec -ng nightlies?

You should not be afraid of Google updates, since they update only apps and GUI. Google does not update Android OS for any box, only vendors do that.

I have seen that option, but did not use it since mine is not locked.
If yours is locked, enable that option and reboot. After Android boots try installing CE with “Reboot to Coreelec 5.0” app using “First Boot” option. To do that you have to first enable “USB Debugging” in Developer Mode.

i try it & unlock from option developer
but go only to recovery page & not boot

After more than two weeks I finally found some time to setup my Kinhank G1.
I used the latest NG nightly: CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-21.1.1-Omega_nightly_20240913-Generic

I renamed “sc2_s905x4_kinhank_g1.dtb” to “dtb.img” and putted in the root.

No matter how much time I tried the reset method I just can’t boot CE. Desperately I was, I even used the “Reboot to CoreElec” apk and choose the “first reboot” option, same result: no CoreELEC.
Because I briefly connected to the internet to download X-plore apk for uploading the Reboot to CoreELEC apk, the android interface slightly changed and got updated. But I’m 100% sure the firmware is not changed.

Firmware: 11.1.4
Kernel: 5.4.210
(just like prior connecting to WiFi)

I tried also the “sc2_s905x4_ugoos_x4.dtb”, still no booting to CoreELEC. What to do now?

Try issuing the ADB command reboot update from Android. That triggers a USB boot on many AML devices.

I get the following screen. Which option should I choose?

Are you trying to boot from an SDcard? Maybe try from a USB if you are. You are in recovery, so the reboot update didn’t trigger the usb boot.

I was booting from SDcard. Unfortunately in my second try to use a USB my G1 got automatically updated to 11.1.13 :frowning:

Sorry to hear it, forced updates are the worst. You can probably get your money back from Kinhank, since they were advertising CE use up until a week ago.

Looks like we need to turn off router before attempting to set up one of these with CE now.
Luckily mine has never seen the G1 page yet.

G1 does not have/use forced Android OS updates. I use mine which boots to Android everyday at least once, and it does not update automatically. It still has the original Firmware: 11.1.4
