Kinhank G1

Yeahh Thanks so much for that and all help @Sholander @hungphutho. Box ordered today with AE I can’t wait to try that ! Thank you

I installed many times ago the CE NE nightly.
I thought the DV FEL is working but I got receantly a test file and it is not working.
Do you know why?
If I wanted to run CE NG via SD card I got an eearch64 error.
After I copy the ng dovi.co file and pasted it into the config folder I got error:
Android Dolby Vision kernel module is not compatible
No Dolby Vision media playback possible!
Please upgrade Android firmware of your device to minimum Linux kernel version ‘5.4.210’.
Dolby Vision media will be displayed in HDR instead Dolby Vision until the firmware fulfill the minimum requirements.

What can I do to play the DV FEL?

There are several versions of dovi.ko. You must use the proper one.
Did you use these instructions ?
Did you use the version of dovi.ko for s905x4 SoC ?

Use an older version!

Sorry guys, I didn’t read this: The s905x4 needs to be running CE-NG to use this dovi.ko for DV FEL playback. DV FEL is NOT supported in CE-NE.

So I have to change my CE-NE to CE-NG. :frowning:

May be you made a mistake because only ne buid is available for Kinhank G1 download choice

Hi
Please Can you tell us what the best ng build to install with this kinhank g1 and about dovi.ko and remote ? Yes I read and saw all the post but Im little lost… I dont know which one is updated or accurate mean is it possible to open a thread for this box with step by step to get DV FEL / MEL working ? The hungphutho FW update is clear and seem to be easy but the step for CE build DV FEL MEL remote and dovi is very confusing now
Thanks !!!

Just follow instructions from here, install the latest “CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-21.1.1-Omega_nightly-Generic” from here

Nice … many thanks to you

I’m thinking about buying a kinhank g1 and installing the custom firmware but I have a few questions about the box and custom firmware.
Does the box support auto refresh rate switching in android mainly for Kodi? (I hate micro stutters)
Does the box with custom firmware support switching between SDR and HDR automatically in android depending on what you are watching?
If I install the firmware would I be able to go back to the stock firmware in the future if a new one comes out that fixes the HDR issues and unlocks the bootloader?

Also how is Kodi generally in android? The main things I’m looking for is smooth stutter free playback with working refresh rate switching. I think I would prefer to use it from within android because I would also like to use netflix/youtube etc. but If subpar I could always use CoreElec.

By all means first install custom firmware to avoid bootloader blocking!
After that, use CoreElec -ng for much better Kodi performance.

I have a very very very STUPID question because I have 1 thousand billion STUPID cable USB to USB-C and apple and android and bcdefgh… but I do NOT have USB to USB cable … I mean does it work with usb to usb-c cable (laptop) ?

Sholander there is no any sc2_s905x4_kinhank_g1.dtb in this ng build or its me… ?? but I found this file in the ne-aarch build …

sc2_s905x4_kinhank_g1.dtb (84.8 KB)

Thank you too, now I have Eth. Wi-Fi and BT. too!

Pls request access. Thanks

@trebor you realize that you are in the CoreElec forum, so Kodi runs on Linux not Android here
My G1 runs all the time in HDR mode on Android (OLED TV mit HDR10 and DV), so SDR gets converted. I do not see any disadvantages. The latest FW (the custom one of @hungphutho also) support adaptive HDR which should switch between SDR and HDR according to the source.
I am pretty sure that Kodi runs subpar on android compared to CoreElec and this is not a G1 specific subject.

Hello, I want to install cpm on kinhang g1, I have coreelec 21 ng, is cpma10 compatible? When I try to install it tells me corrupt file and it does not update, please help

Hi all thanks once more to Hungphutho your FW is very cool installed and run perfect but problem with CE I did all everyone said but I have a blue screen at boot… hungphuto android version run nice but when I boot from SD card I get a blue screen… I use Rufus and the nightly generic ng build with the dtb from bazzle and remote.conf but nothing happens excepted blue sky… this happens with reboot from CE.apk or manual reboot to SD its same blue sky… Any help/clue Welcome !
