Sorry I got lost, I thought it was a Dune Homatics device.
I want to try on the weekend
Need to get order of operations
2 files here bootloader images
What is the 7zip compressed img
Is different than the other?
So first step is to edit image with hex editor?
Then copy to micro SD card
Then u-art with serial adapter
Downgrade Bootloader
After success
CoreELEC will boot now?
Or now can/ must flash hungphutho custom Rom
So CoreELEC will boot
The .7z file contains already edited “bootloader.img” ready to use; no need to edit it.
After success, flash custom Rom to use CE and Android without worrying to be blocked again.
Power off doesn’t work in coreelec, it just reboot & is there a power off apk for android? I use my lg remote via cec that’s why these two are important to me. Thanks.
There are several of them, I use “Power Menu Shortcut – Shutdown-1.3.7.apk”.
Hello everyone, I bought this box in Oct 2024 on Amazon US and luckily got the older rev i.e., S905X4 rev-a(as shown on the Hardware tab in System info of CE) with gigabit LAN working(tested through iperf) on CE-NG [21.1.1-Omega] stable version (Aug 26).
As experienced by others, I’m not able to boot up Android without passing through the mandatory update stage. I have not installed the custom fw provided by @hungphutho yet.
Through CE-NG, able to play DV FEL and all the audio passthrough is working fine. Bluetooth is working as well.
However, WiFi is not working in CE and I used the original dtb file for G1. Can anyone help with how to diagnose the issue with WiFi?
On my rev-a with original dtb.img file running latest -ng nightlies, my WiFi works OK…
Thanks for that. Do you mind confirming exactly which nightly you are using so that I can also test the same?
It’s not really relevant, since WiFi worked for me on all nightlies that I tried since several moths ago; at the moment cpm.A11 for which I don’t know which nightly is used…
Ok got it, thanks. Have you installed the custom android fw provided by @hungphutho on your rev-a and use it as a dual boot?
Ok need some help
Cant get past Android u-boot
Have serial
U-art
Cant find test points that worked for other 2
Have tried both
If i interupt boot
Wants u boot password
Any suggestions
All welcome to comment
Plug adapter, after 2s then short the D0.
If 2s doesn’t work then 3s
“However, WiFi is not working in CE and I used the original dtb file for G1. Can anyone help with how to diagnose the issue with WiFi?”
Hello!
Read this 739 post!
Yes, I have; boot CE-ng from uSD card.
How does it not work? Is the WiFi adapter, shown in settings, turned on? If it’s on, does it connect to router, but not to internet? Did you try with fixed IP address instead of automatic (DHCP)?
What are all your WiFi settings?
With the stable version of CE-NG from Aug 26th, the WiFi adapter is not shown in the settings, and running ethtool wlan0 through ssh returns nothing. But I have now tried the latest nightly and as you mentioned WiFi is working fine along with Ethernet and BT.
However, with the latest nightly I find the high bitrate file playback through WiFi unusable due to lack of stability in FF & RW, the screen goes black for a few seconds and comes back and sometimes it doesn’t come back at all. Through ethernet, it is more stable but the screen still goes black for a second whenever any FF or RW is done (note that this is only for high bitrate files).
So I’m sticking with the stable version since it is smooth with any FF & RW although limited to Ethernet only.
Thanks for the confirmation. I have also successfully installed the custom fw and can dual boot.
Currently, I have the CE-NG on my USB flash drive and I was trying to use ceemmc -x option to install CE into the emmc of the device so that I can use it without the external drive and also have better performance. But I am getting a message stating that the dual boot option is not available and only a single boot is possible and giving me options [3] & [4] to choose from.
Is it not possible to install CE-NG into the emmc of the device?
i think no.
" S905X4-J Devices
Supports AV1, Dolby Vision including FEL, and 3D on CoreELEC -ng. However, they cannot decode 24fps VC-1 content. CoreELEC cannot be installed on the emmc. It must be run off an external device. However, the data partition can be stored on the emmc with HS400 enabled. Only Revision b SOCs can properly decode interlaced h264 and VC-1 content under CoreELEC-ng. Most new devices have Revision d SOCs. "
Normally with uSD or USB with CE on it: run update
Depends if aml_autoscript
is executed from external media.
