Thanks, it works and the wifi doesn’t crash. So it’s not a hardware issue that causes the wifi crash with NG build. It would be nice if it works on NG build, because P7 FEL only works on that.
Right, that makes sense. Good to know for people with the 100M box. @xmlcom
Use WiFi due to my setup, do you or anyone with 1gb version able to get constant WiFi connection & play high bitrate via WiFi without issues. If not I’ll send mine back & not bother trying to get 1gb version and probably get am6b+ to compliment my minix.
Yes, although my 1GB ethernet works OK, I use WiFi due to safety reasons, connected to my Router’s “Guest WiFi” which is completely isolated from the rest of my home network. It never looses connection with fixed IP settings and disabled IPv6…
I can use WiFi for playback but it’s not completely without issues. Especially with high bitrate DV playback, sometimes the screen goes black whenever I FF or RW to a much longer position and sometimes it does come back and sometimes it just gets stuck. It’s very unpredictable and I’m not sure why.
So if you can’t go with either direct USB playback or use a USB to Ethernet adapter like @Sholander has mentioned, you can return it and get another box like AM6B+.
No, it’s one of the options; the other, and better, option is an “USB3.0 to Ethernet” adapter. With an adequate adapter transfer speeds rise to 250-300 Mbit/s which is more than enough
Since we are limited and won’t be utilising the adapter to it’s full potential, I would recommend buying from AliExpress (No I’m not being paid, I just like buying things cheap). That Ugreen adapter is basically a branded adapter, I’ve checked Ali and can source the most popular one that has 10k+ sold adapters with 4.9 rating for $3.79 (pre tax).
This is a choice item, you buy 3 items that have these choice discounts and you get free shipping. You could buy the uart cable for $1.39 and then buy another item that you might need. and you will be paying less than half than the adapter you listed.
Shipping for choice items is around 6 days. free returns within 14 days.
If you get the adapter and it doesn’t give you your speed , just return it. In some sales the G1 could be bought for like $40, then spending $15 just to get 1Gigabit ethernet seems allot
It was just an example that was first at hand, did not suggest to buy it; certainly there are much cheaper ones that do the same work. The only thing is to pay attention to is that it’s USB 3.0 one!
Hello!
Unfortunately, practice shows otherwise.
The G1 only has a USB 2.0 port and the adapter is not capable of 1Gbit speed when connected to it.
I just tested it and measured 94Mbps under ATV and 91Mbps under CoreElec.
This is 960Mbps with a PC (USB3), and 336Mbps on my TV measured on a USB3 port.
So it’s not worth buying such an adapter for it!
please enlighten me why someone would need to stream anything beyond 100 Mbps… DTS-HD MA 1600 kbps, 4K HDR 10 bit with 30.000 kbps… Still not even the half of the bandwith. I assume that the WiFi6 the G1 has is not significantly faster than an 100 Mbit LAN under real circumstances. I would not make any thoutht about this befora anything starts buffering.
The WiFi is the same an all versions. It is irrelevant if there is a GB LAN chip installed or not on the board.
Ok so i did more tests, managed to get 180mb+ on WiFi 6 but still can’t play 1917/oppenheimer via nfs, @Sholander what is your coreelec cache/nfs settings maybe I’m missing something?
@kszaboa 1:1 copy of 1917/oppenheimer will played from nas/plex will test it.
So how many here can play high bitrate via WiFi 6? Want to know if just me as my s922 minix max with same sdcard (i just changed the dtb.img) play these smooth with chapter skipping etc.
I speak from my experience. Yes G1 has USB 2.0 ports, which are capable of (theoretically) 480 Mbit/s speeds, IRL well over 300 Mbit/s. Using USB3.0 to Ethernet adapters, I have 3 of them, ( simple Amazon Basics USB 3.0 to 1 Gigabit, uni USB to Ethernet Adapter, USB 3.0 Hub and Schwaiger USB Type C Multiport Adapter.
All of them achieve speeds 260-300 Mbit/s on my G1, depending on the model.
Valid point
However the one iam using USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0
I have gigabit ethernet
The main is to check specs to assure is Linux compatible!!!
TP Link Post 175
I have CE → Services → Cache completely disabled, set to None; that works best for me on my 2,5 Gigabit router connected to 1Gb fiber. The highest peek bitrates I have seen are around 190-200 Mbit/s, medium is then about 140-150 for such streams.
Misery 4K is actually one of the better benchmarks for testing due to its high bitrate which constantly maintains 90+ mbps with many peaks into 110 range. Also has FEL DV and hence works as an all-rounder testing file.
Just to say I received another kinhank box from AE global store today and the hungphutho FW upgrade / CE DEV FEL (dtb from MrMind) still work very well thanks to all !
Yep
Me too
3thd box received and hungphutho upgraded today…CE work flawlessly WITH DV FEL (@MrMind dtb)
@hungphutho: I have a box with 11.1.4 original firmware. Can I make a full backup via UART?
Hi, this seems like the cheapest box on Amazon which can play back DV FEL.
Can you tell me, if I buy a new, unopened box as of today, will it be able to play back DV FEL in CE? I don’t ever want to boot into Android, I just want a basic box for local DV playback.
Might want to read a few of the last pages above AND
