Oh okay. No, doesn’t look like there is a server mode or addon of Mezzmo for Kodi. Only the client.
@Sholander Can you please let us know on which device you run your server out of? Seems like you don’t have any issues with high bitrate playback on WiFi right?
No need IMHO, it should be obvious.
I don’t understand very well that point … do that mean G1 owners may never give any donation or help anymore to CE Team or some else ? Kinhank G1 brand and users are not same people…
I think I have found the culprit in my setup. I usually use a Kodi UPnP server that runs out of my Windows PC. I tried the following combinations:
CE Native UPnP client <—> Kodi UPnP Server on Windows => This has been my setup from day 1 of getting the G1 up and running with CE. On Ethernet, there was absolutely no issue with high-bitrate files. But the moment I used WiFi(on CE), the buffering issue persisted (playback stops every few seconds). My PC is always connected through 1Gbit Ethernet in both cases.
Mezzmo Add-on client(WiFi) <—> Mezzmo Server => Absolutely no issues.
Mezzmo Add-on client(WiFi) <—> Kodi UPnP Server on Windows => The same buffering issue was back like clockwork for high bitrate files. Sort of confirmed that the Kodi server on Windows is the issue. Somehow, low-bitrate files had no issues (up to 25mbps).
CE Native UPnP client(WiFi) <—> Windows native DLNA server => Absolutely no issues again. Have started using this currently. It is pretty stable for now and I’m able to set the Cache size to 1GB and maxed out the read factor to 50x. This allows me to FF & RW any high bitrate files by 10 seconds to adjust the AV sync without the need to buffer and get a blank screen.
If anyone with any of these boxes is facing issues with your WiFi streaming for high-bitrate playback, please check both the client and the server and test with multiple options. This is assuming there are no other inherent issues with the WiFi setup and interference.
Thanks & I’m glad it’s working for you, for me upnp server does help but still need more for 3d & films like misery (150mb+) so i just use minix s922x with gigabit Ethernet.
Does anyone have the OTA.zip?
Have you tried setting read factor to Adaptive?
As opposed to max 50X?
Curious if results are different/same.
I also have cache set to 1gig
What is buffering set as default setting?
Can I receive the firmware please
Read this post
I have tried setting the read factor to Adaptive. Although the playback is stable enough, I can see that the cache is not getting filled as fast as it was when I set it to 50x.
For example, I have tried playing back a file with avg bitrate of over 100mbps. When I set the read factor to 50x, it’s attempting to saturate the available WiFi bandwidth until the cache is completely filled. I see my PC sending out around 350-400mbps until the cache is filled.
But when I set it to Adaptive, although it does reach the peak of 350-400 mbps on my PC at the moment the playback is started, it gradually goes down and I can also see that the cache is getting filled slower on the CE side. Basically, it tries not to saturate the bandwidth and spike the CPU usage.
I have my buffering set for all file systems including local files, but I haven’t tested playback with files on USB drive.
what about transcode the files to sane bitrates like ~12-20 mbit HVEC 10bit 24 fps 2160p, for audio maybe E-AC3 below 1mbit? Fastflix does that for you, even keeping HDR and HW-accelerated (nVidia NVENC or Intel QSV).
you could consider adding the proper dovi.ko and remote config files to your post also to make it round.
files go to.txt (249 Bytes)
dovi.ko (1.2 MB)
kinhankG1.hwdb (543 Bytes)
remote.conf (1.1 KB)
OK, added.
But that defeats the purpose of FEL & lossless audio playback right? Anyway, native playback is working fine even for high-bitrate files, so I don’t see any need for transcoding.
Hi all anyone know what is the difference between Homatic remote.conf and this NEC remote for G1 ?
I think there is no difference… I use the NEC remote file and IT DO NOT need any hwdtb file to work … hwdtb needed only if you want to pair g10 kinhank remote as BlueTooth…
When it comes to network playback
It seems know two user setting are the same.
And yet results work.!!!
There is no universal setting
I set all boxes as adaptive
Regardless of wifi,or wired ethernet
Thx for feedback!!
Yes, I have also noticed a similar issue before.
I had the Ethernet cable connected to the box but wanted to test WiFi connectivity alone and hence feeling lazy to remove the cable manually, I switched off the Wired network in CE settings.
Although WiFi used to connect, it used to get disconnected frequently and sometimes even freeze the box completely leaving me with the only option to unplug and plug it back in.
Yes
Similar issues on Hk1x4 S905X4 Box
Need to physically break the ethernet connection (unplug from port)
Otherwise after reboot or power cycle wired ethernet connects .
Maybe is CoreELEC protocol?
Wifi stabilizes when ethernet is removed
