I had the Ethernet cable connected to the box but wanted to test WiFi connectivity alone and hence feeling lazy to remove the cable manually, I switched off the Wired network in CE settings.
Although WiFi used to connect, it used to get disconnected frequently and sometimes even freeze the box completely leaving me with the only option to unplug and plug it back in.
Need to physically break the ethernet connection (unplug from port)
Otherwise after reboot or power cycle wired ethernet connects .
Maybe is CoreELEC protocol?
I’m not sure what darkjam meant but is it not turn of G1 , Press and hold Reset button and apply power button to G1. then click some menu that says factory reset?
I currently have
“CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.aarch64-22.0-Piers_nightly_20240904-Generic”
but this no longer exists - as replaced by “no” which doesn’t have a dtd
“CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.aarch64-21.1.1-Omega_nightly_20250111-Generic.img” doesn’t have a dtd
ng is mentioned above.
If I want DV and ethernet, do I need to stay with my old nightly?
(I have upgraded to CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.aarch64-22.0-Piers_nightly_20241118 from the archive)
Tried downloading “no” and “ne” nightly and neither have a dtd in them any more. Tried a September nightly 22 that had one, but that dtd doesn’t work with “no”. I just get a boot loop.
One last additional question. If I playt something in DV, it works ok, but going back to HDR, everything gets messed up and I have to reboot. is this because I don’t have the latest firmware? (clearly I would install the dv8910-hungphutho-v1 variant)
If anyone cares, this is from the Kinhank Facebook support page.
“We plan to release an updated version of the TV BOX G1 as soon as possible this year.
However, due to Google’s system security restrictions, the latest update cannot address developer permissions and the bootloader (Coreelec/Emuelec) issue.”
Later, it says
“In six months, we will release an updated version of G1, which is still in beta. Thank you for your patience.”
the message only makes sense if they are saying the new box will allow us to install our own OS. This is the excuse they are using to inform everyone that the G1 will keep bootloader locked. we (in CoreELEC) already knew that would be the case.
They’ll have to drop Google Certification then right? By dropping that, they allow users to install their own OS which is what their brand is.
What I’m guessing is they are just doing another hardware revision, they’ll have gigabit ethernet, not sure what else they will change? It’s not like they create the boxes, they got the G1 from SDMC?
None of this matters for CoreELEC, they’ve been stealing stuff and the CoreELEC team want nothing to do with them, I will write them a message if they want to reach out to CoreELEC and work together, but then again they package free games with their stuff so I’m not sure CoreELEC will even partner with them.
If they get gigabit ethernet guaranteed in each box, 100% have unlocked bootloader increase the price by $10, fix most of the issues and give us android 13, then this would be an awesome box, would really love if CoreELEC support this box if it comes to that.
Hey Claire, would you be willing to have a talk with Team CoreELEC on the possibility of having them support the box. As things stand they are not happy with KinHank installing EmuELEC without permission. If you think you can cooperate with Team CoreELEC and have a mutual benefit to each others goals then please reply, worth a try to see what would appease both partys?
I’m not holding my breadth but maybe something could come from it
Their message is meant for system update and firmware upgrade (maybe 14 OTA release same as German Orbsmart)
Nothing will change except OS upgrade.
CE and SDMC have mutual hate (and they are more like Skyworth in the past) only prefer to have partnership with paid TV/ OTT- internet services.
