Odroid N2 test builds

It happens immediately after switching channels. The GUI is just gone, the old stream stopped because of the channel switch. And at this point it freezes, showing the old stream. I have to pull the power cord.

Sometimes the same happens but there is an audio loop of 1s repeating. When this happens Kodi restarts.

Pretty much the same as rosenrot said I get a frozen full screen live TV frame, no kodi UI elements are shown it’s simply full screen TV frame. A kill of the kodi.bin process via SSH (yes SSH still works) does not fix it, remote button presses are also completely ignored when this occurs, only solution is pull the power.

Even a kill -9 ?

For me, yes I did do a force kill

Don’t kill.

systemctl restart kodi

Or grab a dmesg log.

Ok I will try a service restart next time it happens. So other then dmesg is there anything else you guys @boot2k3 @Ray might find useful to debug this?

edit - wow it just happened, good timing, so its currently in the frozen state, dmesg logs available here, let me know what else you need if anything:- http://ix.io/1J08

i attempted a systemctl restart kodi and this was successful but did absolutely nothing!, still single live tv frame shown, no ui elements visible, remote does nothing, this was on a Freeview UK DVB-T broadcast (non hd).

SSH is still working fine.

im off to work so i will be able to do further debug in about 2 hours.

Another dmesg here: http://ix.io/1J0a

restarting kodi works but screen keeps frozen an no reaction on anything. Except unplugging from power.

You habe this service running on the N2 with a USB DVB-T?

kodi service is running yes, its a USB TV tuner connected to the N2 (xbox one dvb-c/dvb-t/dvb-t2 tv tuner).

In my basic understanding of the N2 hardware it looks to me to be some sort of GPU crash, CPU seems fine, but restarting processes does nothing to clear the issue once its happened.

this box looks awesome, where are folks getting them from?

Do you have any kodi_crashlog in /storage/.kodi/temp/ with date of issue? if yes, than upload it please.
If no than please upload also kodi.log right after freeze cat /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | paste

I’ve had the same problem, with iptv.

-systemctl restart kodi did not work
-Nothing logged in kodi temp folder, not a crashlog either if I remember correctly.
-Will check dmesg next time.

sure i will take a look as soon as i can, might be a delay as i am at work and dont currently have access, maybe @rosenrot might be able to supply you with the logs, as he also has the same issue and his box was/is in the same state.

Ameridroid is probably the best choice if you’re in North America:

Hello,

“CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-9.0-nightly_20190513-Odroid_N2.img” version is installed.
Everything works so well, thank you.
Netflix I could not, can you help me. What am I missing?

Netflix is running, I’ve added Netflix addons.

i have got limited access to my box, there is no crash logs in /storage/.kod/temp with today’s date, there is a kodi log but it looks to be clean and i dont see anything interesting in there:- https://pastebin.com/v6BZsEfP

note - had to use pastebin as i cant get direct ssh access.

edit - a quick thought, would the act of restarting the kodi service rename the existing kodi.log, yes it did, here is the kodi.old.log which looks a bit more detailed:-

I ordered directly from HardKernel. I’m in the US, but I didn’t find out about Ameridroid until after I ordered. Prices are lower at HardKernel, but then it’s more expensive for shipping plus any duties. Probably a wash in terms of overall cost, but shipping with Ameridroid is probably faster. Wasn’t that slow from HardKernel though. Ordered on the 9th and got a shipping notice for delivery on the 15th (should be here tomorrow, oh boy)

if you are in Canada, there is 40$ duty charge even with USPS. I received mine last week

Depends where you are in the world.

Matt

From Hardkernel or AmeriDroid?
