Problems with Movies and TV Shows

there is no contectual right click menu for either of the buttons/links

Never mind, I don’t want to delete them.
They’re supposed to be pulling up links to same categories as across top of Movies page and TV shows page as seen in Estuary skin - A-Z, Recently Added, Genres, etc. etc.
Now that would be useful.

read my previous post - you can have multiple paths assigned to a single media source (must all be movies or tv - not both)

so u can have 2 or more paths from different hds pointing to one tv source etc

Never mind, that’s not it. The buttons for folders already in Media Sources already do that.
See my latest post - those buttons are supposed to bring up categories for Movies, and for TVshows

Just looked at N2 again and there are Movies and TVshows buttons up in Categories on Video page where they should be that bring up list of categories. Duh? as should be.
So why are there also same buttons showing in Media Sources? not rational.
Can they be deleted? They’re confusing as hell and don’t seem to do anything that hasn’t already been done elsewhere

with estuary, you can only remove all of the categories or none i believe

settings, interface, then configure skin (rhs of screen), main menu items, then turn off “enable category widgets”.

it doesnot work for videos - only for movies and tv shows i think, as i said estuary is inflexible

This is a glytch with Video page that CoreELEC should fix instead of passing buck to Kodi.
Without Kodi, there’s no GUI for CoreELEC OS.
There should be nothing in Media Sources until Movie and/or TV folders are added.
Categories buttons/links at top should correspond to Categories at top of Movies and TV shows pages.

Theres similar glytch with Kodi on Mac - on Videos page, Videos Playlists are listed in Media Sources instead of in Categories with Movies, TV shows, Files, Playlists, and Video Add ons.

This sort of thing is incredibly confusing and frustrating for users and devs should pay more attention to this sort of thing.

I think the default skin is hardly ever used - with other skins u can set up the gui how you want it (almost everything is possible).

You find that once you have a skin set up how you like it, you dont change skins.

BTW you cannot put 2 file root folders inside another folder.
I’ve finally figured out that when you do, Kodi only scans files inside first folder listed inside the overall folder and does not add files from subsequent folders.
It will scan TV1 folder but not TV1 Miniseries folder, and when I scan 2nd HD it doesn’t scan either of the TV folders, bcause I guess it got confused.
It took me about 3 times to confirm.

I much prefer Pellucid but it’s cumbersome without a remote to get hidden menus to flyout from side.
And I’d rather install from Kodi Repository instead of zip file.
I have it installed on Kodi Mac where I have internet connection.

thats bad about the multiple path thing. I’ll try it here and add folder 1 from disk 1, folder 2 from disk 1, folder 3 from disk 2 and folder 4 from disk 2. That is how you had it?

What I’m talking about is this - TV folder with 2 folders inside.
I don’t really understand why because I have a few subfolders in Movies folders that add movies just fine. Like a Hitchock folder with all his movies inside the Movies folder, and a few others like that and they all add fine, but for some reason doesn’t work on Kodi CoreELEC with TVshows.
Am going to test on Mac and see if it’s same thing there.

Kodi Mac adds titles from movie folders just fine as does Kodie CE (CoreELEC)

Movie subfolders that is.

Am testing TVshows subfolders on Mac, which Kodi CE doesn’t like.

It could be that TV show subfolders have Season folders inside them so that’s 3 levels instead of just 2.

I just tried with 4 tv shows on 2 different hds mapped to one media source.

All episodes showed up (there were duplicates like S01E01 appeared 4 times under “Series 1” but it looks ok - this is windows. Each show has at least 1 series, one has 8 series, one has 5 series etc

Tomorrow I can try it CoreELEC and ill post an update here.

My situation is that TVshows (multiseasons) folder always loads first, then 2nd folder is TV miniseries which are just movie folders with multiple titles in them named as episodes E01, etc.
Same thing on 2nd drive, so first multiseason loads, then Kodi CE quits loading any more. I can tell bcause there’s no scanning progress top right of screen.

Found this link about miniseries - it might help Seems like a minefield - glad I dont have any.

and this from seven years ago

I don’t have problems with miniseries.
Here’s my setup - 2 HDs - 1.VIDEO, and 2.VIDEO
Source folders -
Movies.1, Movies.2, TV.1 (BBC, BBC Miniseries folders), TV.2 (TV, TV Miniseries folders)
Miniseries folders have series name with year; miniseries files have name, year and E01, etc.
Got TV.1 and TV.2 folders to add on both Kodi Mac and on Kodi CE,
BUT…
Mac - TV.2 is missing from Media Sources on Video page, Video Playlists appears in Media Sources
N2 - Movies.2 and TV.2 are missing from Media Sources on Video page, 1.VIDEO (HD) and Movies, TV Shows buttons/links (which don’t link to categories but to core files) appear under Media Sources.
Kodi is one unpredictable, and confusing app.
So not in love with her, no matter how pretty she is, she behaves very badly. Pretty on outside, ugly on inside. See PM.

TV.2 folder/ media source is NOT missing from Mac. Was offscreen but appeared when scrolling to right.
So it’s Kodi CE with the issues - even worse.
Now I’ve noticed that in addition to Movies.2 and TV.2 missing from Media Sources on Video page, TV.1 is missing from files list in Videos > Files where all HDs and media source folders are listed where you can set content, and at very bottom of list is +Add Files.

Now, bcause TV.1 media source is missing from Files list, there’s not way to delete the source.
