After a bit more digging, I see in the kodi database where you can remove all references to
movie sets (quicker than deleting one entry at a time in the gui). First is to remove all entries from the “sets” table (as outlined earlier) and the second is to NULL out a column called “idSet” on table “movie” and update the record in the “MyVideosxxx.db” file, where xxx is a 3-digit number.
In case you are interested the SQL statements in free program “DB Browser for SQ Lite”, after opening the “MyVideosxxx.db” file were:-
Use “Execute SQL” tab then run following with F5 command:-
DELETE FROM sets;
UPDATE movie SET idSet = NULL WHERE idSet <> " ";
Then save changes when exiting the program to commit the changes.
This removes any movie set related data completely from Kodi database.
Sets are fine. Turned off, disappeared from list but remained in Sets tab at top of Movies home screen. Turning off sets with single title fixed what I didn’t like.
Removing source and readding didn’t do anything but drop a couple of movie titles that had previously added. Now have 4 missing movies and 4 missing TV shows, and around 40 missing poster art.
Kodi isn’t sorting titles that begin with a and an by second word in title, so I have to change sort title for those. Not too many but enough extra work. Can’t delete sources any more or will have to change all that again.
So I’m down to exporting library so I can move HD to N2 this evening to watch and hopefully have everything load there like on my Mac.
Artwork Beef at least enables me to select artwork that I manually add to folders. I added poster to Fountainhead and was able to select it, so looks like that’ll be the process for art. Will have to post in Kodi forum about missing titles and hope to get that resolved, but if not, I can make a list of the 8 missing titles. Really stupid for modern living, but that’s the way it is in the high tech world.
Not from Dallas; too far north.
Where do I go in Kodi to export library?
I exported to separate files per entry instead of to a single file. ’
What does that mean? Is that the way to do it?
Does that mean that art and .nfo files will be exported to each movie folder?
Turned off update library on startup so nothing will update from net anymore since it looks like I’ve got all Kodi will get anyway.
Do you have any idea why Kodi won’t play iTunes playlists exported as m3u files? They start to play on Mac then start playing from entire music library. Can’t find anything in Kodi wiki. How do you add m3u files to Kodi? I copied them to Kodi/userdata/playlists/music on Mac, they start to play a track or two then revert to playing anything from music library. On N2 I went to Files link at top of Music homepage, clicked Add Music (like to add source files) and added playlists that way, but they don’t play at all there. Just get spinning progress wheel that never resolves.
BTW there’s a joke about Dallas, about how snooty Dallasites are and think they’re better than Ft Worth folks, call FW “Cowtown” and all. (Dallas is the NYC of TX, and like NYers, Dallasites think there’s no life outside Dallas; forever they’ve tried to imitate New England to show like Charlie The Tuna that they have “good taste”). It’s commonly said that FW is “where the west begins” so the joke goes like this. “If Fort Worth is where the west begins, then Dallas is where the east peters out.” lol
If you are going to plug in the same external HDD to CoreELEC, you can just re-scan the library on the N2 - make sure you’ve installed the Artwork Beef addon with same settings on the N2. If you had CoreELEC on both, you would do a backup from Mac and restore on CoreELEC, but using the local files should work. You could try copying the entire Kodi/addons and Kodi/userdata folder but you would probably have to rescan as the name of the HDD would prob not be the same on MAc and N2
I’m perplexed that you don’t see any nfo files on the HDD. Once you export to separate file, then choose yes to thumbnails and fanart, doesn’t matter for actor thumbs (I don’t use them) and then yes to overwrite files. I always get the poster, fanart and nfo files (along with the extra Artwork Beef artwork).
Sorry about iTunes - can’t help - I only have Movies and TV Shows on my setup. Copying them to userdata\playlists\music sounds right as video playlists are in userdata\playlists\videos.
I don’t know about background.jpg - I’ve never come across that.
I did all that. The background.jpg may be fanart.jpg; the longer landscape images that display in background. That’s what they’re called at TMDB which seems to have better selection of art, but missing some movies.
I’m finding that I can manually add art then select art with Artwork Beef addon, but I have to do that twice. First time image doesn’t show. Second time does.
If wrong artwork has been downloaded and displayed, I cannot change it even when deleting poster.jpg from movie folder.
The .jpg files appeared after using Artwork Organizer plugin. I’m thinking that the export library function is not working. Would be par for the course when it comes to Mac version, usually given less attention than Windows version.
That would be a real bummer if the export does not work on Mac - creating 700 nfo files would be serious crap. The kodi\addons and kodi\userdata folders could be copied across but I.ve never done that with a Mac.
On the export library command, are you specifiying “overwrite files” to yes?
Just thinking about it, maybe try exporting to single file and then using the “import library” on the N2. I haven’t tried this but it might work.
Just tried the export as single file and then import library and it seemed to work fine.
It would be much easier though if the HDD could contain all the artwork and nfo files, then all you need is a re-scan. I’ve done that many times as I upgraded my Android boxes over the years.
I visited the Stock Yards in FW a few times and also lived in Arlington for a couple of years. Saw the Texas Rangers many times over the years - Juan Gonzalez, Pudge Rodriguez etc. The thing about Dallas (maybe like every other city) is that you take a wrong turn and you are in a dangerous neighbourhood. As you know, the Dallas Cowboys stadium was in Irving (and not Dallas - which surprised me when I first went) for many years - I lived mainly in Irving and Frisco.
Also here about music:- https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=187971
Post #8 onwards talks about using kodi’s advanced settings (just a file called “advancedsettings.xml” in your “userdata” folder. This might help.
Single file download produced folder with the following folders -
actors, movies, musicvideos, tvshows
No musicvideos so that’s empty. Nothing but art. tvshows have individual folders, some with tons of thumb.jpg. Are those the same as fanart.jpg for movies? They’re just film stills.
Then there’s a videodb.xml file that looks like it contains all the info that’s in .nfo files - title, original title, sort title, ratings, plot, etc.
Yes - now go to N2, and kodi and go to import library and navigate to that xml file and select that to import and it should work. The jpgs are cached copies of the artwork I think, but the xml is the biggie
If it works, might be worth trying to export library again on the N2 and export as separate files and see if the nfo files and other artwork is written to HDD.
What about this - " Note 2: If you use local artwork, do not export artwork as your original artwork may be overwritten with an inferior copy or duplicated if you use the short name format."
So after I add my missing 40 or so art files (80 or more including fanart and thumbs), what would I do?
Good catch - might be worth deleting the jpgs from the folders in that backup you just created before importing the library,
On the N2, you can then run Artwork Beef addon for all videos and then add your manual ones. From that point onwards all you need to do is only run Artwork Beef for new videos,
Got to settings, media, libray, import library and navigate to the folder that contains your xml file on your attached drive.
Ah about internet. Well maybe rerun the export and leave the jpgs alone and then import - once you get internet you can rerun Artwork Beef for all videos to refresh the jpgs with ones from the net.
