[S922X] Ugoos AM6(+), Help & Support

Slightly off-topic here, but are you talking real FEL or conversion to DV profile 8.1 for that Maven build?

EDIT:

Never mind, just found your posts on the Kodi forum about this. I didn’t know, so thanks for letting us know. The downside is probably that on Android, the Ugoos still uses “fake TV-led” instead of the real TV-led that has been incorporated into CE?

This one I guess: State of Kodi Media Players: Best Options in 2024

Now my device reboots in a loop while upgrading, it no longer switches to CE installation. It’s an endless loop, and I can’t figure out what to do, despite the Factory reset with the USB key I used from the start.

There are 2 holes on the botom of AM6B, in one of them there is a factory reset switch. Disconect all USB or SD devices before holding the reset switch, so it boots to Android.

How does it work? Just remove the key, remove the power supply and put it back by pressing this 2nd button?

Yes that should do it.

The device continues to loop on the upgrading without doing anything else. As if the second button were unusable.
The device is on Bootloop.

Your situation is more and more looking like a defective Ugoos hardware. This is not supposed to be this difficult and show all of these errors/problems assuming that you followed all of the CE Guide steps correctly. I would return the Ugoos and get a new one.

That’s what I came to think. First, the installations didn’t lead to any DV/HDR information. Then connecting the device to the TV did the same. It took an umpteenth similar instllation to see this information. Then one thing led to another, no network access and finally bootloops.
I was pleased to see that the player supported DV in the video settings, which at least confirmed that it works. 150$ gone.
Which purchasing links are recommended for Europe? If anyone has a working device with EC from Europe.
Thank you.

Why can’t you replace from the place you bought your Ugoos? I do not know the best place to buy if you are located in Europe but everyone that I know recommends buying from AliExpress, specifically PlayTV, as long as the store/place are reputable and has a free return policy including shipping.

When you hard reset the box, how long are you keeping the reset buton pressed, after powering on? You should keep the reset buton presed until the box enters Android “Recovery Menu”. It can take up to 15-20 seconds that reset switch has to be pressed. If the box does not enter Recovery Menu you are doing something wrong, and repeat the procedure until you successfuly enter Recovery Menu.
In this Recovery Menu you have to choose the option for full reset, before the box starts to do factory reset…

Watch some videos on Youtube for some other box, the method is the same for all.

There are 2 buttons on underside

You want recovery button

Not Maskrom

Hope you didn’t use Maskrom

It’s too old, it was bought in 2021.
No matter how many times I press recovery for 1 minute after connecting the mains, nothing happens. The Android logo appears and waits indefinitely, probably the key. When I try with the key, it starts the loopboot again, with long press or not.

I pressed the 2nd Marskrom button at one point, as I was told to press the 2nd button when I had errors.

I suggest to DL the 0.5.4 Full Img version Ugoos provided.
It contains the full Image, AML USB Burning Tool & Instructions how to recover the box.

@rho-bot there are 4 image files - which one is the correct/recommended one to use - ota vs non-ota and dualboot vs non-dualboot?

AM6_0.5.4.7z , as pre-selected when following the link…

Thank you. Just wanted to make sure. I never needed to update my Ugoos boxes images since it already came with 0.5.4n. There were previous discussion on this thread and other threads about using the DualBoot and/or the ota versions so wanted to confirm with you being a member of the CoreELEC Team which one is the correct/recommend version - being the non-ota non-DualBoot version.

Thank you so much my savior, a simple and effective answer that solved my problems!
So I reinstalled the Ugoos image using the installation tool and instructions. How can you not appreciate the presence of documentation?
After trying an Android reboot, which passed with flying colors, it was time to start afresh.
Formatting the USB key, installing the CE image and associated files. Installed via the Recovery button, CE installed perfectly, with arrival messages (name, SSH/Samba activation) that I didn’t get with every installation attempt.
All Dovi information was present in the various menus. Testing with a P5 file that was purple on my 1st attempt, this time the Dolby Vision logo appeared - MAGIC!
All that’s left to do is set the correct video, audio and SSH parameters. Switch to EMCC dual boot to improve the system and everything will be ready for 4k Blu-ray playback!
Thanks to everyone for their support, and to CE for making it possible for us to enjoy Dolby Vision at lower cost :exploding_head:

Glad to hear that another one didn’t “buy the dust”. Enjoy :ok_hand:

In cases like the Ugoos with a locked boot loader given injecting the blob is not possible to fix cec issues, will requesting ugoos to fix anything on the android side improve the CE experience for us?
