Ugoos AM9 Pro - SoC S6 S905X5-J

Yes that type, a single board with a GPIO header and no case, same with Odroid N2+

More of a DIY board than a production device like an android box.

Is there anyone who can perform a clean install on an SD card for the AM9 Pro and test it?

I’ve performed a clean install on the SD card, but it just won’t boot. It gets stuck on the logo.It displays ā€œS6ā€ and gets stuck on the S905X5 logo.
The same SD card boots via USB when used with a USB-to-SD card adapter.
Note:Super user mode is enabled on the Android side of the device

Let me add one more detail.
The system boots up using the old SD card,
which was updated last night.

uSD card is same type and size?

Yes, I formatted a working SD card to FAT32 and performed a clean reinstallation.
I am installing the old software (202603014) and the system is booting up without any problems.
The system won’t boot with the software dated 30 March 2026, but it boots if I plug it into a USB port.

I’ll reformat the SD card and try it on another device.
I’ll reformat the SD card in Windows.
I’ll also run a repair on it.

I reformatted the SD card, but it still didn’t work.
I used the same SD card, but changed only the DTB file and inserted it into the X96 M300, and it works.
I reformatted another SD card for the AM9 Pro, and it booted up with that SD card.
Interestingly, the AM9 Pro seems to be selective about SD cards. When I plug the non-working SD card into the USB port, it works.
I apologise for taking up your time

This SD card does not work in the AM9 Pro
It works in other devices
Kingston
64 GB Class 10, UHS-I, U3, V30, A1
100 MB/s read, 80 MB/s write

The AM9 Pro worked with this SD card
Samsung
Ultra MicroSDXC 64 GB UHS-I
64 GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-I
80 MB/s

Yes, even update the firmware from 2.0.5 to 2.0.6 can cause such behavior.
With 2.0.5 my used µSD was working fine including reboot to CE - every time.

With 2.0.6 reboot did end up in Android, same µSD, same image and setup.

I am thinking about purchasing an am9 pro for Coreelec, but I dont see a am9 pro image file for device tree to download. Is there a specific image and dtb to install coreelec on the am9 pro? Thanks for you help!

Is there a current working img and dtb file for the AM9 pro?

Yes. Nightly build + am9 pro dtb.

Thank you but forgive me, I am new to this forum. I see the nightly builds but I only see amlogic ne, ng, or no. I assume you are saying the latest 21.3 stable release will not work with am9 pro? But the regular am9 dtb will work with the pro?

And which nightly build? The generic? I do not see any am9 pro nightly

Thank you, last question….will I find that am9 pro dtb in the device tree folder once I burn the image?

Maybe some reading is needed …

I got it now. That’s what I thought. I really appreciate your help!

So Coreelec screen comes up on reboot but I can’t set up anything because the remote wont work with it. I try to hold the correct buttons dow to repair it but nothing happens, just the blue light on remote blinks. Can someone help me with this?

Pairing in CE is not automatic.

Use a USB Keyboard or TV remote with CEC for initial setup and follow the directions on the wiki

Download the UR02 ā€œremote.confā€ file from here and place it in the root directory of the USB drive.

It worked Thank you!!

So I have the nightly CE 22 installed and everything is working for the most part. The last question I have for this topic is…….is there anyway to install the latest stable version, 21.3, to the AM9 pro or is this box currently only supported by the nightly v22? Thank you all for helping me out here

AM9 Pro is not compatible with version 21.3.
