Amlogic-no Discussion

OK, but it is nightly build.
I was referring to ā€œofficialā€ builds here: Releases Ā· CoreELEC/CoreELEC Ā· GitHub
Its kind of mess introduced Iā€™m afraid.
I will stick to the official releases.

You are in the wrong thread, pls read the first posts

Happy 20.3 user here but I thought Iā€™d take another look at NO on N2 2GB version. Using nightly 20240110, I canā€™t get audio output from the 3.5mm jack. I have audio set to PCM. Apologies if this is already mentioned in the thread - Iā€™ve been lazy and havenā€™t read it all.

Other than that, Iā€™m impressed by this and delighted that this will extend the life of my N2.

Edit: Apologies to @Portisch because I see Iā€™ve flirted with this before. I claim age related forgetfulness. What I say about the latest nightly is true tho.

Edit 2: Solved with nightly 20240118. Thank you.

Latest nightly killed my Minix remote, completely non-responsive.

/Edit lsusb shows nothing

Just tested this version on X96Max+:
CoreELEC-Amlogic-no.aarch64-21.0-Omega_nightly_20240118-Generic.img.gz
with device_trees: sm1_s905x3_4g_1gbit and sm1_s905x3_4g.dtb

in both cases no boot.
Then tested with older device tree: ā€‹here the start logo freezes

Same here with latest nightly on C4. HK boot Logo keeps popping up :-/
Tried several SD cards that work fine when trying 20.x

I got a no name S905x3 box. Bqeel Y8 max to be exact. Works fine with 20.3 ng. I can confirm trouble with this nightly. With 2024-01-18 nightly my box doesnā€™t boot. Tried with the nightly 2023-12-15 (because thatā€™s the only one Omega nightly prior I got). My box boots normally, I make the initial setup. Update notification pops up. As soon as the update gets installed, the following boot my TV goes black, shows no signal. No ssh, no SMB, therefore no logs. Tried several SD cards.

mee too
can confirm that latest generic no nightly
boot over S905W2 H96MAX
like ne there is no wifi and no bt
but iā€™m so excited
thankā€™s very much for your hard work

2024-01-18 nightly works on Beelink GT-king 2, just for information.

2024-01-18 nightly Not Working on A95X F2 s905x2_4g Will not even boot
using an older g12a_s905x2_4g.dtb it will boot no wifi

2024-01-18 nightly Not Working on H96 MAX s905x3 4gb Will not boot with the current sm1_s905x3_4g_1gbit.dtb
Revert to an older sm1_s905x3_4g_1gbit.dtb it does boot no wifi

2024-01-18 nightly Not Working on NinkBox N8 Plus s905x3 4gb 100 bit will not boot
with current sm1_s905x3_4g.dtb older sm1_s905x3_4g.dtb boots fine. no wifi

Still a few more s905x3 4gb boxes to test

Without any log itā€™s just guess what is wrong.
Open device and provide UART logs.

As more we can get as more easy and fast we can solve such issues!

Now that NO boot (on H96MAX S905W2)
I tryed to restore NE backup without success
The operation hangs in a loop and I have to reimage the micro SD.
Any tips ?

Yes, donā€™t do it!
Itā€™s recommend to perform a clean fresh install. This does include to not restore any backup from different projects.

I have tried to add the dmesg log, it says it has to many lines

I am looking forward to one day upgrade from stable CE-20 NG to future stable CE-21 NO (on S922X and S905X3 boxes). But will such upgrade require clean fresh install?

Same question for upgrade from stable CE-20 NE to future stable CE-21 NO (on S905X4 boxes).

fwiw: I run CE from eMMC on all these boxes and, ideally, once NO stable, a standard upgrade would be nice, with the expected work to upgrade few binaries (e.g. widevine) from 32 to 64 bit (like was possible when upgrading from stable CE-20.2 NE to stable CE-20.3 NE).

In any case : thanks so much for all excellent work!

FYI -TOX3 (S905X4) - working nice with CE-NO (tested on sdcard) - way better compared with CE-NE variants. Will try also a dual-boot on emmc nand with .no
Later edit: only single boot works.

Hint:
Newest nightly should now support HBR audio on VIM4 & GT King II.

Boot problem with 64 GB SD card still persists. No boot problem with 32 GB SD card.
If we run the 64 GB SD card from the USB port with SD card reader, no boot problem
Device GT King II
