CoreELEC 19 Matrix Discussion (Kodi RC)

I’ve tried 4 different boot devices, all of which will happily boot using any version of stable, nightly or Matrix up to 20210217.

From 20210218 to 20210223, all result in the [FAILED] Failed to start load kernel modules error, whether from fresh install or update after installation of a stable, nightly or Matrix build from 20210217 or before, with any of the 4 devices.

The one thing that I did note is that when the error comes up there is still a lot of activity on the drive, although after half an hour there is no change.

When I look at the storage partition there is a Kodi log but it is always zero bytes in size, so there is no useful info there.

I have no clue as to what can be wrong but whatever it is, something that changed from 20210217 to 20210218 must be it.

Without a log we can’t help you as it’s a user error. I am sure one of your boxes provide UART so make a log. You can add nopkmute here:

Like: coreelec='nopkmute'
Then it should print everything of kernel messages on UART.

Very logical move. Thanks for this!

Matrix? Of course.

Ok, and you just installed dvb-latest from CE repo and it’s working like before?
The addon driverselect should also automatic be installed, isn’t it?

is Matrix also supported by S912 ?

Yes, that’s right, driver selection is set by default, but this is not active before not installed any driver
ps. I’ve idea mb create add-on for download and instal ir remote and vfd configs or it very difficulty?

S912 devices are not supported in CE19 Matrix

See NOT supported devices section

Ok., it seems that Kodi has now an official stable release: [https://kodi.tv/blog]
I hope the work on CoreELEC comes also to a progressive solution! :slightly_smiling_face:

CE-19 final is ready, same like current nightly. But CE infrastructure is not yet ready to be able to maintain two releases the same time…

Downloaded CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-19.0-Matrix_nightly_20210223-Odroid_N2.img.gz, and performed a clean install on my Odroid N2+.

Installed the Aeon Nox Silvo skin from the Kodi Repo and then added Movie and TV Show media.
System crashed on reboot. Have now tried this whole process twice.
The log file ref is http://ix.io/2Qv2

Grateful for any assistance!

Please contact the skin author, the used script addon is not Kodi Matrix compatible and crash the system:

According to the official thread, Dev is behind due to RL stuff. He’s working on fixes for Kodi 19.

i am using Nox Silvo with lots of modification and it is working great for me on some s905x and some s905x3 boxes. My install is not clean however. On multiple boxes i followed the path 9.2.5 kodi 18 non-ng build (original daily driver) > 9.2.5 kodi 18 ng build > kodi 19 matrix nightly > update / re-install few addons that were not updated during migration.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. I had assumed that as the ‘Aeon Nox Silvo’ skin was in the official Matrix repo, it had been tested and was compatible with Matrix.

Very pleased to hear that Mike Silvo has not abandoned this skin and that an update is in the pipeline: I thought he’d given up!

I couldn’t repeat your issue on my boxes with this sample.
But if you have spare power supply please try it.

P.S.: I hope your box power is not some other device usb port. Symptoms looks like not enough power.

On my Odroid N2 cec keeps switching to HDMI 1 when it’s connected to HDMI 3. Also if I set the GUI resolution to 4K and play 1080 live tv, the stream starts and then switches to proper resolution and frame rate, CEC on my minix u22 works properly but also has the resolution switch issue. If I set the GUI to 1080p it works as it should. Fresh installs on both.

Maybe libCEC does detect the wrong physical address by the edid from the TV. You can try to force a physical address: Help with CEC commands (N2)

So if you are connected to the TV HDMI port 3 it have to be the number 3000.

Hello, I would like to ask when the stable version of Coreelec 19 will be released? Thank you.
