Homatics Box R 4K Plus

I think we’re reaching the offtopic threshold allowed. This is not a dune forum.

I understand, but it’s the same Homatics device, it just has the license to install the Dune APP.

I would ask for help installing CoreELEC.
Can it be in this topic or do I need to create another one?

I think you missed the point, you can discuss dune homatics and CoreELEC here. This is not a support forum for their app, that’s the offtopic part.

Sorry, I think I understand now.
If I am still wrong, please correct me.

About the Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus:
What is the difference between Android TV update and firmware update?

An Android TV update is a type of firmware update, so are CE updates. Firmware update is a very broad category, that generally means a low level software update.

Hi. I don’t know if I can post this here.
If possible, please check if I did everything correctly to install CoreELEC (I haven’t tried to install it yet) on Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus:

On the CoreELEC homepage I went to “Install Guide”.
I went to “Download Helper”.
I chose “21.2-Omega (Stable)”.
I chose “New Installation”.
DEVICE = Homatics Box R 4K
RAM / VARIANT = 4G (1GBit)

I downloaded the file “CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.aarch64-21.2-Omega-Generic.img.gz”.

I extracted the IMG file and “write” it to a USB Flash Drive.

I went to the “device_trees” folder and copied the file “sc2_s905x4_sei_smb_280” to the root of the USB Flash Drive.

I renamed the file “sc2_s905x4_sei_smb_280” to “dtb.img”.

I downloaded the APP “Reboot to CoreELEC” and copied the APK file to the root of the USB Flash Drive.

Is this all I have to do? Is everything correct?

Now just install “Reboot to CoreELEC” and then run it?

hmm, I don’t think you should extract the IMG file, you write it to usb as is using Rufus, when done all steps turn off box, connect usb to box, push the reset button and while doing it turn on the box but don’t release reset button until you see CoreElec logo, you should also copy the dovi.ko file to usb.

@vpeter will there be a solution for NG to move data partition to emmc when using Android TV 14 in future? Thanks

The CoreELEC Wiki and “Install Guide” do not mention this “dovi.ko” file.

Wouldn’t using “Reboot to CoreELEC” be easier?

just do as I say haha, you want that dovi.ko file for S905X4 (follow the link) that thing you talk about is for you to be able to reboot to CoreElec from Android, it’s not for installing.

I intend to keep Android.
Keep Android and CoreELEC.

With no it’s already working.

yeah sorry I meant for NG, if that would be possible.

you will keep Android if you do as I said.

Then:

I downloaded the stable version of the NG version, file:
“CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-21.2-Omega-Generic.img.gz”

I extracted the IMG file and write it to the USB Flash Drive.

I went to the “device_trees” folder and copied the file “sc2_s905x4_sei_smb_280” to the root of the USB Flash Drive.
I renamed the file “sc2_s905x4_sei_smb_280” to “dtb.img”.

I downloaded the “dovi.ko” file for the S905X4 SoC, and copied it to the root of the USB Flash Drive.

Is everything correct?

Is there any problem using “Reboot to CoreELEC”?
I will run/open CoreELEC through it, for me it is better than using other methods.

Thank you for the patience and for the help.

ok, as I said before, you don’t need to extract the img, you can flash the file as is, and yeah you can install that apk after you finished installing CoreElec.

From download is image not compressed?
7zip,winzip,etc…
So you do extract to folder/ here
Then write/burn?

download the file and just flash it to usb using Rufus.

Ok
I never use download helper
Get from github
So assumed file/image was compressed
